Recently I started the show, Slayers and, it has been a pleasure. I have enjoyed seeing the protagonist, Lina, interact with everyone. Guorry initially seemed annoying, but he has brought out the best in Lina. The world so far is interesting too. In episode three, we met a mysterious guy who seemed interesting. You are welcome to discuss the entire series in this thread, as well as the first season, which I am currently watching.
I've only watched the first TV series, but I liked it a lot. There's a very energetic 90s style to the animation and character designs, so I recommend it to anyone who finds that era to be charming. The humor can be predictable, but I never found it annoying, and at times it's quite funny. In many ways, it reminds me of the old webcomic, RPG World. I'll probably give some of the later series and OVAs a look eventually. I understand Naga is something of a fan-favorite character, but she doesn't show up in the original run.

The whole saga when Lina and Guorry were separated was gold. It was funny when they made Lina weaker. The sequence where Lina was trapped made me laugh I didn't really understand why Zel became a good guy. Rezo was funny to me playing the bad guy. Lina's failure makes Slayers stand out to me.
The introduction of Amelia has been great to the show. The ghost part in episode 12 was funny. It didn't seem like Lina could use the dragon slave at all, based on how she got had a hard time earlier with the other bad guys. Lina getting possessed was hilarious too. The blind is leading the blind here, as Lina has to take care of Amelia, who is also stupid. The KFC guy showed up in episode 14, and I wish they'd give away chicken for free. Overall I like the direction Slayers is taking.

that colonel was used in one of those ancient internet animations. funny looking back how much anime was around on internet culture back then, and some would be inclined to think that it's some kind of new fad...

that reminds me of the time KFC was mentioned in higurashi.

I remember watching Slayer with my older brother when I was still a kid. Good times.
A couple years ago I also read the manga.
Should I (re)watch the anime? I barely remember anything from it, even less so of the story.

You should rewatch Slayers now because on paper it is a generic show. Lina and Guorry's incompetence makes the show funny. Due to the fact that I am also an idiot, Lina's situations remind me of my own.
The scene where they were Lina, Guorry, and Amelia pretended to be actors was great. It had all the qualities of a good play. There were special effects, audience participation, and they were acting convincing. Lina tries to hide her identity from the theater manager.

Yeah, the theater episode was pretty fun overall. One scene I liked a lot was Lina pushing Sylphiel out of the way and taking the shot for her. The small delay before her blood comes out and the way her body rolls around on the ground from the hit were great. I could really feel the impact

The Slayers ended very well with its last six episodes with Copy Rezo. When Copy Rezo was more effective, I was shocked. Rezo 1 seemed to go down relatively easily. The only big challenge with real Rezo was reuniting the crew. With Copy Rezo, it felt like they were helpless. The Fishman part with Guorry and Syphiel made whatever the goal of the story hopeless. It felt like torture when it seemed like it was going to be a while before they were going to get out of this issue, and it did take the rest of the season. The chicken in episode 22 was funny when it transformed. It seemed they didn't take them seriously, even after he became bigger. Copy Rezo seems eviler based on how he killed Eris. The final battle was good because of the unexpected things that happened, such as Lina getting shot. Overall the ending to it was satisfying and I am looking forward to the second season.

started reading the manga and the first chapter alone is pretty damn great for both the character introduction and setting. kinda funny that lina basically steals shit from people on the regular and is overally pretty edgy and guorry makes an excellent sidekick because he's basically a straight and narrow swordfighter. the interaction with the basically a never-ending round of brothers who kept avenging the previous brother over and over was pretty funny. the first four chapters are pretty quality shit. i'm wondering if there's going to be any backstory on how lina became a powerful sorcerer.

Guorry is basically along for the ride, and I'm not sure why he's friends with Lina. Lina is self-centered and kind of dumb at points, but Guorry is worse
