I've been watching "The Chosen" recently which is a pretty damn good bible show on par with "The passion of the christ"
They did a good job with practical affects and managed to make it accurite to the time period, from spoken language to cloathing. The story itself actually works and i can't say they tried embellishing too much content from the bible for storytelling reasons which is nice.
On the otherhand i watched supernatural and it just feels like a good idea that was fucked up and i'm kinda ,ad about it. Beasthunting cross road trip? Sounds epic right? For like three seasons or so it was fine but overtime it goes downhill for like 14 seasons. For the life of me i cannot understand why tumblrfags liked that shit. (i really do like me some beast slaying) but jesus i just should have quit watching that trashfireearly on.

I would reccomend "falling skies" and even talk about it but honestly its been years since i watched that shit and i can't say i remember much. I guess a TLDR would be : Walking dead but instead of zombies, Aliens. And a better story direction with a somewhat dissapointing ending.

I remember the hardcore tumblr fandom for Supernatural back in the day. It was on par with Twilight, wild times.

I think I watched a couple of episodes of The Chosen. I didn't like it, I found the writing poor and flow was all over the place. I will say the set design and costume design were both really cool. Everything looked very authentic.
I recommend Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ. Very good epic and an interesting view of Christ's life.

If we're talking about Scorsese, I recently watched Casino. I have seen a lot of gangster movies lately, and I liked that one a lot. It stays thrilling without ever feeling unrealistic. Both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci bring strong performances to the lead roles. Oddly, Don Rickles even plays a supporting character, which he pulls off surprisingly well, considering that his comedy is absent in the movie. The cinematography is interesting as well; it succeeds in being dramatic, yet tastefully subtle and grounded.

I haven't watched Casino in years. I watched it only once and didn't like it. Which means I must've been in a bad mood before watching it or something because Scorsese doesn't make bad films. I need to give it another go some day.

I went and watched casino for the first time based on this post. I know I can't be the first person to say this, but it felt really similar to goodfellas, and I gotta ask: Why would the same director collaborate with the same writer, to make a movie with the same subject matter, with the same style and pacing, with the same actors playing the same character archetypes? That's not to say I didn't enjoy the movie, though. If I had to pick between the two I'd pick casino. I prefer the idea of a protagonist who starts out on top rather than focusing on his gradual rise to fortune, and the more interesting setting helps too.
I'm not particularly a fan of mafia movies, but I love stories about the downfall of huge people and empires due to hubris, the kind those movies so often have. If anyone's got any recommendations that fit the bill I'd love to hear them!

I've read that Casino was a deal with Universal to make a film similar to Goodfellas after its success. Basically, they wanted more or less the same movie, but with them as the distributor instead of Warner Bros. I haven't seen Goodfellas yet, but if it's like Casino then I'm sure I would enjoy it.
The themes you mention are also present in Scarface, which I have seen recently and can recommend. Outside of crime films, I wouldn't know what to recommend for that.

The Wolf of Wall Street and The Irishman. Both directed by Scorsese. Wolf of Wall Street is fucking great and sounds exactly like what you're looking for. The Irishman fits the bill too but it has a much more mature and darker tone.

So Justin Roiland has been dropped by Adult Swim. The company has stated that they're gonna recast his roles in Rick & Morty. I honestly don't see how they can. I know Roiland has been outed as a total creep but Roiland's voice acting is one of the best things about the show. It's hilarious how he delivers his lines and almost all of them are improvised on the spot.
Rick & Morty dropped in quality after the first two seasons but Harmon's writing and Roiland's voice acting still kept me watching. Mostly the voice acting as the writing has been subpar the past few seasons. Dude had legit talent and it's sad to see him in his real light.
Speaking of, this scene turned out to be pretty accurate, huh?

no doubt whatever recast they do is going to fail miserably. It's not like they're replacing the voice of some tertiary character, but both of the main leads. I also heard that adult swim is reviving ATHF in the wake of the controversy, so they obviously have little faith in R&M as well. This is good news to me since i love athf, though I don't have high hopes for whatever it gets reincarnated as.

I watched the terminal list recently. It was pretty damn good. Kinda like Jason borne, punisher, and rambo combined into one show, Chris pratt acted (and looks) like a different person, Its actually great when an actor acts instead of being the same character from other shows.

I watched Blonde, the fictionalized biopic of Marilyn Monroe. If I had to describe it, it's like watching a beautiful flower growing up in hell which withers away in a long and painful process.

The movie left me absolutely gutted. Fantastic film, a work of art. One of the best films I've seen in a long time.

I finally watched Goodfellas yesterday, and I agree that it is very similar to Casino. I enjoyed it for most of the same reasons. Seeing Ray Liotta was interesting, as I've never watched a film of his. He was on par with the other actors, although Pesci really stole the scenes in this one. I think Casino had more memorable characterization than Goodfellas, but both are fantastic films.

It's really great. It's a slow burner, one of the few crime films that show the aftermath of that kind of life. The third act of the film is very somber. Were there any scenes that stood out for you?

I've just watched Top Gun. I had heard that it was a major influence on Gunbuster, which is one of my all time favorite anime, so it was interesting to finally see this film. Much of it felt very familiar to me, because I've always lived in military towns where planes and helicopters are a big deal. Obviously, this film is all about the stunts. It's very impressive that they filmed real aviators for the dogfights; I'd say it's worth the watch for that alone. The soundtrack is also cool. The plot follows a simple, predictable arc, which I feel works in its favor. The camaraderie between the pilots feels realistic, but otherwise, the dialogue can be generic. The romantic subplot could have been axed without losing much. Having said all that, I don't mean to come down too hard on the movie. I really like the scenes with the planes, and the character archetypes worked well together. It's exciting and optimistic, just not deep. I think I still like Gunbuster better, though.

The scene where Irish blatantly walks up to a man, pops him fill of lead in 5 seconds and just fucks off as if it was an average Tuesday. Tey all just live in their own little world, cut off from everyone else, it's crazy.

I watched Gangs of New York, another Scorsese film. I really liked Daniel Day-Lewis's performance as the main villain, Bill the Butcher. He was very enthusiastic and over-the-top. I was surprised to learn how much of the film is based on real history, although the plot itself is fictional.
I think a few things stopped me from connecting with it as strongly as the other Scorsese films I've seen; namely, the somewhat generic protagonist and the melodramatic presentation of some scenes, but I enjoyed it a lot regardless. Has anyone else seen this one?

It's pretty vapid but i didn't expect anything different. I haven't enjoyed a video game movie so much since the two angry birds movies
modern hollywood is beyond saving so I honestly wouldn't mind if video game movies overtook and subsequently got done to death as much as comic book movies. I never cared about superheroes so this shift would finally mean i get to see something i'm interested in get to that level of massive popularity.
It's at the point now where comic book movies are scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel, giving films to characters no one but the most dedicated fans remember, and that can only last for so long. I'm excited to see this trend fizzle out for good.

I saw King of New York a few days ago. I wasn't familiar with the director, so I didn't know what to expect other than Christopher Walken. He did a good job with the lead role, pulling off a real creepy psycho crime boss with a few good one-liners.
The action was over the top compared to the slow-burn crime movies I'm used to seeing, but it works. There's some impressive stunt driving and loads of gun violence. It's worth checking out, I think.

I have mixed feelings about the batman movie that came out a year ago. I like the edge, and i like the stuff they used in making the movie and all the little details. I like the acting and i like most of the story. If you pay close attention you can spot stuff like, The batman mask is kinda like the one used in the old 60's show, and theres the tacky red phone and the female secretary.
Apparantly they gave batman the emotional intelligence of a 10 year old, it was funny because i knew something was off and after reading the wiki they downright say it. The trama of batman isnt shown but you can really feel it off the character. Batman is kind of an austist and really fucking pissed off, you can hear him breaking peoples bones.
Had a hearty lol when batman confronted riddler, he called him delusional and insane, also that

>You're a pathetic psychopath begging for attention. >You're gonna die alone in here!

Kinda reminds me of fucking all star batman from 2005

>What, are you dense? Are you retarded or something? >Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the Goddamn Batman

And riddler started screaming like an autistic manchild having a temper tantrum
Paul dano is a great actor with good range whos deticated to the roll he plays and it shows.I'm fine with mistakes like batman plugging a thumbdrive in an insecure system, its been like a year since he started and he is a newb so i guess its fine to fuck up. I found catwomans jab at "white" men annoying and the actual thing i really hate is the whole INTERNET HATE MACHINE deal. Riddler has a fucking reddit/imageboard where he makes people terrorists and plans shit out. I loled too because at the middle of the site theres shit where you can link shit to google+ and facebook, and at the lower left hand side of riddlers "thread" its a god damn imageboard post formatted just like you'd see on any image board like

Anonymous name of day 0/00/00/0000 0:00:00 AM No.1234
insert edgy text here

but ofc its kinda like your regular ass forum because on the side there is jackasses with usernames like niggerman420 saying stuff like
"your right riddler! the day of vengance is near!"

I might be going mad but its just annoying seeing gay stuff like that. I used to live with people who'd watch NCIS and like every three fucking episodes would be about evil racist who use imageboards to be terrorists. in one case they used a fucking vichan clone to set up a white supremicist site lol and on another episode i remember it was about fuckin incels. On supergirl there was once character from the future (i think it was a heroic version of toyman) who said that anonymous imageboards was a cause of social instability and it was fully purged from the net.
I guess it could be worse, if they had stupid meme shit in the batman movie i probably would have thrown up and died.

If i had a choice i'd say i like nolans batman trilogy. I like the infusion of philosophy and romance like out of the count of monte christo. I get the weird one liners and qoutes migt not be for everyone but i'm fine with it.
IM NOT WEARING HOCKEY PANTS
I also like sam ramis spiderman trilogy although thats my first choice i also like the amazing spiderman movies.

The factor of death and renewal is interesting in godfather. Michael should have never entered his fathers buisness, I don't even think it would end up kicking him in the ass later since. Also it was kinda tragic that unlike his father, he went clean and still ended up getting fucked over for just existing. Fucker could just breath and that would lead to something tragic happening to him. Also that one guy who was like "yeah that shit happens like every 5 years" HELLO EVERYONE IN YOUR FAMILY DIES AND ITS JUST ANOTHER FUCKING TUESDAY, Its like the irishman where everything is taken as a matter of fact and i find it interesting how jarring it is. Infact atleast with the don' running things there was an actual family and an air of romance but then his son took over everything turned sour. Everyone basically hated michael too while the don was the fucking man of the hour. I hated when people kept asking him to do shit especially since it was super fucking risky and i knew that shit would be the death of him.

Here is some book related trivia to the dune movie.
Harkonnen in the book was a homosexual pedophile, and he didn't float in air like the movie although he needed it to walk because he was a fat fuck. The scene where he almost died went diffrently because he was freaking out like a child and had to "fix" his political reputation during and afterwards. When paul and his mother are kidnapped, his mom was about to be raped and then they used the voice to move the 'thopter in a way where paul did some math in his head where as one of the harkonen enforcers fell, paul kicked him and turned his innards to liquid and then the pilot was killed and they landed. While paul in his mother was in the tent, that is also when paul told him other she was going to give birth to her daughter.
pauls father had a banquet and realised the habits they had like pouring water on the floor was fucking gay and using water to wash their hands was sold to fremen, so he decides to be respectful and forces all the rich fucks to be more responcible with their water usage, to their dismay.
I was re-watching the newer dune movie recently, it still holds up.

Why did obi-wan lie to luke?
after the nu-trilogy movies got released i got so burnt out of star wars that i decided to just forget about it all and pretend it doesn't exist but after playing a star wars game my interest is renewed (atleast not in the newer movies and shows though)
I understand fully that george lucas didn't have an exact story bible and shit changed with time but still, The information he knew could have changed everything. Luke could have made it his mission to go and convert his father back to the "good side" and vader could have done a coup behind sidious's back or something of the sort. Its funny because later they said that rex was at the battle of endor, You would have thought that he would have contacted the head nigger and charge and told them a hell of a story of the old days that everyone seemingly forgot. The only thing that makes sense that obi-wans friend anakin did die that day on mustafar but that would mean that obi-wan is an egotistical retard. If he was so in touch with the force and totally a wise old man then letting go of the past and using it as an educational tool, or even convincing luke that his father "was still alive" would have been his mindset.

I have all of the star wars movies (minus the jew jew abrams sequal trilogy) The clone wars animated movie, And my library has The clone wars up to season three and all four seasons of rebels.
To be frank i have't watched starwars in cronological order since i was 10, and i banished starwars from my mind in disgust after watching the force awakens in theaters. After playing a star wars videogame my love of the series returned but in a way i feel a type of dread and i feel regret for even bothering. I guess i'll just fucking do it and i'll report back any interesting findings and opinions i have. Haven't watched clone wars in fucking ages ever since the last season was aired on Cartoon network so it'll be neat to see how it plays into everything.
I liked the Alternate universe books and stuff too like legends and Dark empire.
I don't know how a game can fucking do this to me, It's like feeling a part of my soul returning after so long. Mando was interesting for atleast the first season but i found the CGI luke questionable. I'm a poorfag anyway so the streaming service is not for me and i'm not going to bother with any new shit, its dead to me.

i watched the phantom menace and attack of the clones
its been a few days since so my opinions have been watered down and such because of memory, i also might be not as detailed as i want to be. feel free to bitch at me if i sound retarded.
Keep in mind i am trying to be objective here and i don't want to place these movies on a pedestal.

phantom menace was great. it had a good consistency and flow. the political subtext of the narrative was welcome and needed and i enjoyed it. it turns out the political systems are bullshit and are just petty ideals to get people to function and not go insane by the cosmic horror that is reality, this weakness was exploited by sidious. the droids and the trade blockaide was nothing more then a chessmove to force sidous to become the head nigger in charge and cause the roman republic to fall and to usher in the age of the roman empire. the story wasn't all over the place and the focus was on obi-wan and qui-gon. jar jar wasn't as cringeworthy as he as usually treated by people that watched this movie. His retardation and the humor that came from it was sprinkled at the right places and other characters didn't tolerate his shit if he got in the way, or misbehaved. if this was otherwise i would have been pissed off to no end. He was also useful, the jedi wouldn't have gotten as far as they did without them. The CGI is a hit or miss but mostly a miss for some of the characters and scenes. all of the droids look great, some scenes with the gungans look like shit. The story is fucking outstanding, and the choreography is just as good. I like that scene with the plasma wall, the action had to stop and characters got seperated, which added tension. qui-gon meditating is a nice touch, even in death he was at peace. i also liked the dialog between qui-gon and obi-wan where obi-wan was a stickler for the rules and qui-gon basically told obi to not put his faith in the jedi counsel and to trust his gut. after qui got killed, obi was clearly furious and his battlestance and technique showed it. he was totally brutal.
dispite skywalker having high mediclorians him being the so called "chosen one" is retarded, they have no way to verify it. after all, what if he wasn't? or even, what if his son was? who came up with the chosen one bit in the first place? and most importantly, how would the pressure of being the chosen one affect the childs mentality? why exactly did those retards feel that obi-wan is bad for skywalker? why not seriously come up with clear reasons on how anakin can fall to the dark side and just fucking veto obiwan and ship anakin off to somewhere else for training? its clear the jedi has a huberis problem and them being too interconnected to politics is really not the best idea.

I like Scott Pilgrim and the animation seems exceptionally enjoyable but otherwise I doubt it will have much to offer. Scott Pilgrim is a product of its time and trying to "update it" for modern audiences is an awful idea.

I just find it retarded that so many niggers jumped into the anime train and i find it a questionable trend. Maybe it is good, i have no way of watching it besides torrenting it or something.

It's just as much of an anime as all of the 80's cartoons animated in Japan. Calling it an anime is just a marketing gimmick because people don't watch animated things anymore unless it's for literal toddlers or was made in Japan.
I pirated and watched it today actually. It's surprisingly good for something made by Netflix, and had very little if any globohomo ESG stuff in it. In fact, I noticed only one actual black guy, and he was just a background character in maybe one scene. Everybody else is the same race, same gender, same sexuality, and same brain as their original comic incarnations. In that sense the show is very faithful.
The story itself was very meh. I don't want to spoil anything but the original comic is still better and Ramona is the new protagonist, which makes sense given the context but was kind of annoying. The voice work is questionable at times but for other characters it was pretty good. I wasn't expecting Michael Cera to work for Scott but he did a decent job. The humor was absolutely great and I really enjoyed many of the jokes, even though a good chunk of them were pop culture references. It felt tasteful, and very very outdated. Scott Pilgrim is a very heavily early-2000's thing and the show still feels like it.
Overall it was pretty hit or miss but I still liked the animation a lot, and I think there was enough to enjoy for me to recommend it to people who already liked the original comics. It's definitely not the best thing in the world though.

hearing that any kind of reboot has been "updated for modern audiences" is my sign to avoid it. Just try and find one example of that principle done right; it's impossible. Scott Pilgrim isn't even that old of a property...
I hate to be all pessimistic but It's hard for me to be interested in anything made today with this in mind. I'm sticking to old stuff and I think it's the way to go. It's not like there's not enough out there to choose from.

I don't blame you, I was expecting it to be filled with "yaass qween" shit too, but I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it for what it was but operates under the assumption that you have read the original comic, so you have to be already willing to put up with a bunch of gays in the story. I don't think the usual idpol Netflix fuckery was very influential on the story.

I haven't even beaten the beat-them-up game of Scott PiLgram, so probably not. The plot isn't something I am well-researched on, but isn't it about some whore being saved by Scott Pilgrim. I guess the girl will be treated like fine china in this remake.

The long and the short of it goes like;
>Scott Pilgrim is an immature manchild asshole who takes advantage of and mooches off everybody in his life, taking no responsibility and refusing to man up and become a better person
>Ramona Flowers is an immature womanchild asshole who takes advantage of and emotionally abuses everybody in her life, taking no responsibility and running away when things get hard
>The people in their life are victims of their unknowing tomfuckery who are too good for them
>But Scott and Ramona ABSOLUTELY deserve each other

I watched The Departed, which is the last Scorsese film in my collection. I enjoyed Jack Nicholson's performance, and the plot was exciting. Even though it's 2 and a half hours, it almost feels too fast to follow. I like the way it uses its soundtrack, too. I recommend this film.
I've been thinking of watching Drive next, since I heard it was good. Has anyone seen it?

I was forced to watch the new superhero movies (gotta thank my siblings for that mindrape) circa 2015+ in the last few months. I had personally decided to ignore them because, They are garbage. I haven't watched everything, So far i have watched Dr strange and the multiverse of madness, Loki season 1, Antman quantumania, The Flash movie, Wakanda forever, and Blue Beetle.
Comic books are my crack cocaine and i'm the black homeless man totally naked and going for a faceplant whenever i see an ounce of it. Even though the genre of superheroes have degraded nowadays it doesn't taint my opinon of them and i mostly read the old shit instead of reading new stuff, And i am very picky of what i read, Dispite being the abformentioned crack addicted homelessman i do have standards and i do not like fanboying or shit art, or shit writing. And hey, There are modern comics too that are pretty good.
I just wanted to get that out of the way.
First off, I feel the "movie" format is wrong. Comicbooks are Serials, they are sometimes twice weekly of an ongoing soap opera drama. If i had to choose a length of time of what's going on in the pages, i'd say like 30 minutes. Movies are a 2/2 and a half hour affairs, Plenty of things have to get cut. Comics are a medium best expressed on paper, They live and breath in a diffrent way then a movie does. Not to say that comic book movies are a bad idea or terrible in its own right, Its just that it's very hard to get right, and if you do there is only so far you can go, and its good to know when you should stop. Its also good for the thing to have actual weight. Comic books aren't just kiddie flicks you can distract your dumb child from destroying the house for two minutes or blowing thousand of dollars on roblucks or whatever the hip kids do nowadays. The whole point of the original dr strange comics is steven seeking enlightenment. He isn't doing stupid shit like zip zopping around the multiverse. The original writers had studies the fuck out of philosophy, and religions and used that as a medium to tell a very interesting story. Yes, they wanted to write a damn comic and make money but it's not like they wrote mindless drivel to feed the masses or whatever. One of the reasons i like superhero comics is because of the symbology and other stuff that plays into it, Why does superman wear underwear outside of his pants? Old circus strongmen wore it, It means strength. Why the cape? It represents nobility, in a good way. Why doesn't he wear a mask? He has nothing to hide but a friendly face. The symbol on his chest is hope, and its goddamn plastered as a as large as possible for everyone to see. The red coloring represents speed, and the blue, good.
Sometimes villians represent simple things like "evil" or even is a twisted counterpart to the hero. Sometimes its something like societal problems. As an example they might be a former natzi, but became "one of the good guys" because of operation paperclip and operated behind the scene, They might be a symbol of the time like teenage angst, the list goes on. Doesn't mean the bad guy has to be evil, or that there even has to be a bad guy in the first place.
>wakanda forever
It was actually fine dispite the main actor actually being dead and having to write it into the story, although they don't explain jack besides t'challa dying of " an unknown illness" which was shit. I thought they had some interesting ideas with Namor. And ofc they had to introduce fuckin Ree ree wiliams so they can somehow make the shit character in the modern comics somehow look good so they can finally remove iron man and replace him with an empowered black woman.
>guardians 3
Had a better tone then the previous movie, Was more serious and had less jokes, Felt more like a comic book movie and i almost feel like the High Evolutionary was better written then his counterpart. If i have to bitch about something then i guess it would be the way Adam warlock is behaving, Like a child but at this point marvel is fucked so i don't expect much in the future.
>Wandavision
Good shit, I thought it was well written and the cenematography is outstanding.
>Multiverse of madness
Shat on wandavision and retconned the fuck out of it for no goddamn reason.
Had no real reason to exist, Focused on """mind blowing"" shit CGI, fanboying and other bullshit. They introduced the illuminauti, Peggy carter as captain america from the shitty "what if" story. Black bolt, The inhuman from the ABC show that got canceled lol (great actor tho) (also he was wearing the comic suit) monica williams as captain marvel, The guy who plays jack ryan as fuckin mr fantastic, and charles xavier with the fucking weelchair from the 90's xmen animated series. As always charles is the reasonable man but they are killed off in seconds. This movie is most make no goddamn sense because in the original Dr strange movie Mordo was hinted at being the next bad guy because Strange broke the "natural law" but they did fucking nothing to continue the story and threw in multiverse crap. They mentioned in this fucking movie too that mordo and strange has been at it for a while and that mordo was stranges ultimate enemy BUT THEY NEVER SHOWED IT ANYWHERE. (its like there was a fuckin movie made the viewer was already privy to) You can not write a story like that, What is this, Leonard Part 6?
They also introduced fuckin America Chavez, Do me a solid and just read her comic book series lol. She has a little gay pride flag on her vest so you know her identity. She actually has no reason to be IN the film, She's only there to save Stranges ass and to be the macguffin.
The ending credits are fucking worse. Strange grows a third eye for no reason whatsoever and Clea (who was the slave of dormomu) shows up to arrest strange. (keep in mind clea wasn't in the original movie) Clea was saved by strange in the original comic and became stranges girlfriend. What the fuck, i mean really. At the end of wandavision wanda was healed from her trama, and vision was revived from the dead, and yet they decide to retcon the show by having wanda nerotic as fuck and commiting warcrimes to bring her kids to life even though it isn't hard to do some mental math and realise how retarded that is and all the bad shit that comes with fucking with reality. It pisses me off too that strange didn't recover the darkhold in the first goddamn place and he didnt know about the book of ichanti.
(will continue this review in part two)

The "what if" comic book series is out fucking standing, some of it was actual source content of an actual alternative take on a situation, character or storyline that didn't make the cut, Meanwhile the animated series was illogical. i only watched one episode or two and i couldn't watch more.
>blue beetle
I have mixed feelings about this movie. Some of the humor was gay, Especally the writing at times. I like the transformation scene dispite reviewers chimping out how "tramatising" it was. (the same goes for the scene where the dad dies, its like those dumb niggers forgot that fuckin uncle ben died or actually never goddamn read a comic in their life) I would have liked OG blue beetle instead of reyes but whatever. The sequences with the family feels overbearing and verges cute at some points and fucking annoying at others. I liked the suit overreacting to protect the host but it doen't happen to much. Carrapax's backstory was out fucking standind and i dig the historical angle they went with.
> quantimania
""""""humor""""""
The orignal movie had a decent balance between humor and seriousness and was pretty grounded, i almost dont even want to bother talking about it due to how irrelevant it is. In loki there was this man called He Who Remains and he is later transformed into Kang. Well kang is the new thanos, The new crises event where all the movies crossover, the next blockbuster for manchildren. Yellowjacket becomes MODOK and dies and the situation is comical and devoid of any meaning. I don't know what else to say.
>Flash movie
Shit. Terrible movie. I liked the idea of "You are your own worst enemy" but other then that its dogshit. I don't even know if i can even explain this movie or review it.
This movie fanboys too much and they added 80's batman for no reason besides that It'll make them a fuck ton of money for him to be in there. Terrible acting from ezra miller. Terrible CGI.
>loki season 1
Has no reason to exist, could have been done in a diffrent way and was poorly executed. Used as a lynch pin for the "kang is the new thanos" bullshit.
Again, if you don't have disney plus and didn't watch the bullshit disney plus shows you would literally not understand what the actual fuck is going on in the movies lol

This is my opinion but it seems like capshit stuff that comes out nowadays is basically for normalniggers and so they can change comicbooks from being something good to utter garbage because kids nowadays will eat anything and they'll probably see old comics as shit and the market will change forever.
Either way its best not to even watch this shit. Its a waste of time, in my opinion a d i regret being forced to watch it.

Another thing i hate is the product placement. As an example in the 2012 superman movie, There's a scene where Superman fights Zod at a lowes and then crash lands at an IHOP. In antman the main character works at a baskenrobins. In the iron man movie, iron man eats at a fucking burger king. Its fucking everywhere both in old and new movies and its a bullshit practice. Another thing i hate is how the movies affect the comic books. Iron man was redrawn to look like RDJ, the same goes with thor and Old school nick was written out of the comics and replaced with movie nick. It even affect the stories and Canon and its gay as fuck.

Did anyone else watch "They Live"?
the original short story was so small and it was incredible with what the director did with what he had. i like the visual flair of the aliens appearance, it reminds me of old pulp alien stories. i think it's an important story and if anyone watches it, just pay serious attention to everything. i'm reminded of operation mockingbird and the usage of propoganda on the average american civilian, and subliminal messaging. the film score is also quite exellent.
also, i have several minor nitpicks.
kinda stupid that the aliens had only one antenna and only on a specific building, and the action scenes near the end with guns was terrible lol

I wonder if they'll even bother introducing St. Alia The Knife in dune 2. If not then it's criminal since she has such an important role and i like the way she ended things with the baron. How would they even bother killing him off? "well paul stabs him this time" gay. Also it would be a blow to the weirdness of dune for which i'm sure corperations don't enjoy because they don't like fun at all.

I saw it last night. I have not read the books, but it was undeniably cool. Love the props and costumes, and there were some great performances. The story and world are super cool, I am absolutely going to read the books when I don't have as much reading backlog. The movie is longer than it needs to be tho. They should do like Lord of the Rings and stick with theatrical length movies and then release an extended cut to make the nerds happy. As is they're failing on both fronts, too long for an engaging theatergoing experience and too short to explain every little quirk of the world. Cutting and changing material for film adaptation is a contentious topic, but the truth of the matter is that any translation across mediums is going to require it. I have questions that no doubt were answered by the books, such as why the fuck don't they use guns more often in the desert where shields can't be used for risk of worms? Why not pop a couple spy satellites over Arrakis and bomb any visible Fremen activity from orbit? There is no character named St. Alia, the baron is killed by Paul. Also Paul stared dramatically at three simultaneous nuclear detonations and wasn't blinded Hanz Zimmer is rocking the fuck out on these movies and the sound mixing guys are having a hard time keeping up lol

Part of the problem is fear, If a lazgun shoots a shield and a person is unaware that he is wearing one and it is activated, there'll be a fucking massive nuclear explosion the size of hiroshima. In the books lol the fremen DO use guns and even stolen 'thopters which was a major shock to everyone but to be honest it faded over time. Although they do feel like it's a cowards weapons especially if someone takes pot-shots at someone else without the other party realising it.
Also guns are kinda secondary and not too many people give a shit especially since its kind of easy to protect yourself against it.
>pop spy satellites
Fremen paying off the guilds with a fuck ton of spice to have them look the other way with the added threat that they'll fuck up other nigger attempting to produce spice and that they'll also withhold spice. Also fremen are good at hiding in the desert and everyone though there was no more then 4 thousand fremen on arrakis instead of 10 million.
(also frank herbert didn't want the focus to be on technology but instead wanted character devlopment and philosophy so he tried to keep things simple with just swords.
dispite my bitching i'm sure its going to be a fun movie and i really enjoy that they atleast tried with the film

Kynes death in the dune movie was changed. Kyne (who is a male) was thrown deep in the desert and died. In the movie, She had a noble death by the Shai-Hulud.
It's been ages since i watched the movie but i remembered a fucking weird scene with a spider creature thing that was a "pet" of the baron. The only logical way i can explain it is perhaps it's a creation of the Tleilaxu? They are a faction introduced in Dune: Messiah and perhaps it's some type of forshadowing unless i'm overthinking things.

As i was reading children of dune, It was mentioned before duncan had his last stand at the planet ecology building, he killed 19 sardukar. I might be wrong here, but i found the clip from the movie and duncan killed 15 sardukar. I would have laughed if the numbers matched.
The OG dune book never explained how many sardukar duncan killed or what exactly happened there, The door closed, paul got sad just like the movie and he left on the emergency 'thopter.
Something i forgot about the movie is the sardukar ritual scene with the bloodletting and the saudukar throat singing (the music of my people)
Yes, i'm going to re-watch the movie again but i don't remember if they ever went into too much detail about the saudukar in the movie. in the book they don't go into detail about the saudukar planet (like, daily life, visual appearance, rituals) and instead we are told that the saudukar is basically australia in steroids. Prisoners are sent to Salusa Secundus and there's no rules or really anything. They have to survive. After a while they come back and gather who survived and they are given a choice, work for the emperor or die. How do they stay loyal? CASH MONEY. ALL THE BLACKJACK AND HOOKERS THEY NEED. Jokes aside they get payed a fuck ton of money and live lavish lifestyles, and to make matters better the fucking stories, people fear them and have rumors about them and the way they fight is insane because they have no morals or feelings, i think only 500 where sent to kill the 20'000 House Atreides people on Arrakis. Two things didn't help them though. One was that after a few eons with cash money and whatever, they kind of grew soft i guess, and the other is that they had no clue about the fremen and only one fremen can kill several sardukar and suffer minimal losses. The fremen had religion on their side. I like the potrayal of sardukar in the movie, especially how they fought like Samurai.

Kynes is mixed race. At least kynes father who then mated with a native. Kynes was a white dude who had red hair, his wife was brown skinned. Kynes JR then had Chani who had inherited her father's hair color. and then pauls children also had chanis hair which threw me for a loop because paul had black hair like is father and i was super confused and i had to do a bit of re-reading. TLDR Chani is a Moor.

I'm currently watching the canon of Godzilla films for the first time. I just finished through most of the Showa era films. While they were innovative (I especially liked the very first, GZ vs Hedorah, and Mothra vs Godzilla) they seem a little dated and slow a lot of the time. I finished Return of Godzilla and thought it was a major improvement from the previous era.

Yesterday I watched The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. It was neat to see from a historical/cultural standpoint, but it really hasn't aged fantastically. It's over 100 years old after all, and horror is probably one of the harder genres to keep timeless. I don't have much to say about the plot. The twist was kind of lame. The main treasure was the sets, they really are deranged. Great visuals. You can tell Tim Burton took a lot of inspiration, if you like the visual direction of his Batman movies or Nightmare Before Christmas you'll get some mileage out of Caligari. Conrad Veidt's performance as Cesare was neat. I only know him from Casablanca, so it was cool to see what he could do in his younger years.

Right? I like buster keaton's stuff too. Charlie Chaplin was the english buster keaton in many ways. And he was right at the start of the dawn of cinema. So really he can claim credit for most gags you see in comedy films to this day. He knew how to make a moving plot though, like his film "The Kid" 1921 which could give any disney or pixar film a run for their money even 100 years later.

As a funny aside, I've recently been growing out my facial hair for a month and I'm going to shave today. I am going to give myself a Charlie Chaplain (also austrian painter) moustache in tribute which I'll cut off after taking a photo.

Buster Keaton is the GOAT. A few months ago I found myself near where he filmed The General, sleepy territory in Oregon near Eugene. Got to see the famous bridge and everything, and there was a big mural of the cowcatcher shot. I should rewatch that movie for this thread, it's really great. Physical comedy really was mastered around that era, nothing makes me bust a gut every time like Buster or the Three Stooges. I guess between Vaudeville and the restrictions of silent film you really figure out what works. The other plus about older films is they're super easy to find, public domain and all.

I watched dune part two. On one hand unlike the book, The dialoge is VERY hamfisted and blunt and they altered some of the characters behaviour, But on the other something i very much so appreciate is the artistic vision of things. Like the sequence with the bene gesserit seducing feyd-Rautha, the black and white camera filters on the barons home planet, the costumes, its very incredible. For all it was worth it was a good movie but i'm personally incredulous on how they'll adapt children of dune. if chani ran off how are they going to convincingly reunite paul and chani together so they can go forward with the conspiracy and attempting to render chani infertle?

There are rumors that george lucas plans on buying back Star Wars and making his unused sequal trilogy.

Although nice if true, And if it did work out he can finally end star wars for good and give star wars a proper funeral so people can, stop beating the dead horse i don't know if it's ideal. A good chunk of the cast are dead and how are you going to explain JEW abrams force awakens trilogy off? Why not remake and expand apon the original movies and clone wars? I guess that has its own problem like the amount of time to produce that shit.

lol vhs tapes are the best, yeah i know its old tech but honestly it was fun as a kid to plug 'em in and watch as the best movies and cartoons played before your eyes, animating the useless brick you you thought contained nothing but strange plastic film.
even as an adult there's nothing like poping in a season of fucking xfiles on your shitty old tv like who cares about visual quality
remember those tvs that had like static electricity on them when you turned them on? fun stuff.

I watched the quiet place day one. I personally enjoyed it, It was well written and the music, cinematography and acting is fucking great. There's no woke trash either. It's a story about trama and living with pain and of survival, and friendship in hard times. Is it scary? It isn't exactly a horror movie in full, most of the focus is on emotions but there are good scares and one really shitty jumpscare that pisses me off. I'm not talking shit about the emotional stuff, it's great. A heartwarming movie. The critters and previous characters are not elaborated on, the focus is on the days the alien arrived on earth and with new characters to experience them. The aliens have some things elaborated on actually and its stuff to explain what they eat and whatever but for the most part stuff about them is kept secret. They do look great but at times the cgi is shit i think because of the lighting? it totally looks like a cgi render at times, kinda wish they could have used practical effects but whatever. i dont see the big deal the normalniggers hate that the dying girl with cancer is gonna get a slice of pizza? so what? how is that stupid? she is literally gonna die anyway and pizza isn't something that will exist anymore so might as well die eating your favorite meal. It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, Also there was a good cat in the movie too.

You know what
Why do the aliens kill people in the first place? They don't eat people and they do have a food supply, maybe its survival insincts?

watched alien romulus
it was a fucking solid movie in my opinion. it was also neat to see a heavy usage of vfx and props and shit instead of CGI. its like the writer/director watched all of the alien movies and played fucking alien isolation and took all of the best shit and used it.
the movie transforms as it goes along. from alien, to alien 2 to be specific and there are some scenes that kind of pays homage to that.
something that doesnt make any sense to me is why the pregnant woman injected herself with the black goo from Prometheus for no fucking reason whatsoever. it would make more sence if rook coerced her to, that she was dying and it would heal her and her baby but it wasn't the case. from her standpoint she actually has no goddamn clue what that shit was and she was supposed to move that shit to the cargo hold, other characters knew that it was a bioweapon but not her. other then that there are no logic breaks or anything retarded just general human error that happens irl, if they had the training ripley had they would have had better situational awareness and logic, and they made mistakes on purpose out of huberis thinking hat they knew better and they had plenty of times to back the fuck off but they played with fire and got burnt.
there wasn't anything woke in it either, which was refreshing to say the least. as mentioned the movie transforms from alien to aliens so it moves from spooky and suspencful to like action horror and if you watched alien and a few of the other movies you might not exactly be as scared as expected. did i mention fucking alien isolation, the video game from 2014? well guess what bitches its canon and sound effects and features from the fucking game is in the movie especially the saving theme music and the fucking save station and the fucking hand rail thing to open doors lol holy shit i was not expecting that shit at all. the actor who plays andy did a great job especially when he gets a upgrade chip and does a 360 mood swing it was good acting. also rook was back from the first alien. i guess they made an actual fucking animatronic for his body (i thought it was the actual actor it looked so goddamn real) and for his voice they used AI with approval from his family because he got fucked over by holywood and he would have loved to make another appearance if he wasn't dead.
it was a fun experience.

My only gripe with the movie is that it feels like a rehash of his older movie, Don't Breathe (2016), just set in the Alien(s) universe.
Then again, most things that felt like breaths of fresh air to me are just rehashes of old movies/ideas/concepts with a new coat of paint, and also set in a different universe. Like for example, The Mandalorian is just Eastwood's Dollar trilogy set in Star Wars Universe; unsurprisingly, given Star Wars (1977) is just the Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo, and Western cliches set in a science fiction universe; or Joker (2019) essentially being a fusion of Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976), Serpico (1973), and The King of Comedy (1982) set in the DC universe.
As the old saying goes, "what's old, is new again".

I watched a British movie today, and I fucking loved it so much that I tried to edit it to one of my childhood songs (even though the song has kind of aged badly listening to it now). Not sure if I'll continue making it, but if I get enough feedback, I'll maybe consider.

Minor spoilers for Hot Fuzz (2007).

The frame rate at the start of the clip is a bit too low maybe try and see if you can place a clip before it that fits so you don't stretch it as much, but if that doesn't work if you are using AE I think there might be plugins to make it look a bit more smooth.
At 0:23 that scene for the stick click fits very well but the clip after it is just very anti climatic. I would personally put a completely different scene after that.
You could also check out and learn from the 映画MAD (Movie MAD) tag on Nico Nico. Sort by highest popularity (再生数が多い順) or by oldest (投稿日時が古い順), or try looking up a movie name in Japanese and add MAD to see what comes up. I'd suggest going with that last option, as a lot of the stuff in 映画MAD is, well... not that great.

I'll see about finding ways to make the framerate on the introduction smoother/interpolate it, there was a part I had to cut where he was saying "'scuse me" or something to that affect, but it looked strange when its atop the instrumental portion of the song and he's not really saying anything (not trying to go for a silent film effect for a song of this vibe).
Also, I don't use After Effects for basic editing, except if I'm trying to animate or compose effects that's way too complicated for a video editor to handle. I do have some idea of how to smooth it out from some experiments I did in my media class and in my personal time. (Mainly using free software solutions, but it actually looks decent, and I'll try not to look like one of those unnecessarily interpolated movies, like The Hobbit in 48fps.)
As for the anti-climatic scene, I do plan on having a montage atop, and not just use that one elongated clip throughout ~0:23.
I also have an idea of adding an animated title composition atop that montage, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself and will just opt to put notes/placeholders on the timeline, until I get the basic structure of the edit to a satisfactory level.
Need to make sure the whole baseline vibe and feel is accomplished before adding atop it. Got to start small and then build on top of it, you know?
Also I'll try to look over some of these movie MADs you shared, and see what comes up. Best not to look at too many though, because I'm keen on doing my own thing, and not really copy other people explicitly.

Specifically for MAD editing if you are not using it yet I would recommend Reaper (fake trial) and then for any special effects I would apply them to the rendered output from Reaper in After Effects. In Reaper make sure to adjust the BGM to the BPM of the song so that any clips you put in are placed on the beat. You can look in this thread here >>>/vg/204 and go to the rentry.org link which will show you also how to set up Reaper correctly and additionally how to easily find out the BPM of the song you are using (You can ignore the rest since you are doing a regular MAD).
Here's some recent video I was making in Reaper for the Chibi Maruko-chan thread with the American Psycho source pack until I got a bit bored with it.
