You got a glass of water, with an icecube floating in it. The icecube melts. Does the level of the water rise or fall?

it depends: if the ice floats entirely in the water then the level remains the same.
Now if we take a block of ice, we put it in the bottom of a container with a small layer of water, so obviously the level will rise when the ice melts. Sauce : Archimedes' Law of Buoyancy

>>3866
That's what I thought. The icecube stays partially immersed occupying the same space as the melted water will occupy, so the level doesn't change. Recently I've had a discussion about it, and I was curious to hear some opinions

no it'll increase slightly, since ice is more dense than water (or maybe imma a retard)

Oracle says: Not gonna tell you

 No.3923[D][DF]

>>3922
Water is actually one of the few things that is less dense as a solid than as a liquid (that is why ice floats in water). As said above, the water level stays the same because the volume of water the ice cube displaces is the same as the volume of water from the ice cube when it melts
