Do you own any toys? Maybe want to share pics of them?
Do you think it's weird for adult male to buy toys and keep them on display or play with them? I started doing this last year and I really enjoy it so far.

>Do you think it's weird for adult male to buy toys
No, or at least some context is needed overall and it depends if you are using your finances responcibly.
>and keep them on display or play with them?
No, or at least some context would be needed but really it actually can be healthy (such as building lego sets) Building model kits are good for the hands and mind and displaying toys are quite nice.
Anyone remember bionicles? The lore of that shit was epic. I remember being hooked to the mata nui online game and im pretty damn sure have the shadowed one laying in an old tote somewhere.
>>114
>model kits
pretty sure that gunpla anon should be around here somewhere, cant remember what he posted but it was pretty neat.
Wait, am I the gunpla anon? This is an old picture, but I recently got another one that I haven't opened yet.
>>122
dubs, checked
epic rx-78-2, char custom zaku, and gouf although i dont recognise the gold one.
>>124
Thanks, fren. That's the Hyaku Shiki of Zeta Gundam.
I don't own any of these toys and wouldn't want any, but I'd love to visit someone who has a nice collection and likes to talk about it.
Do you play with other people?
>>122
what version rtx is that? master grade?
>>140
The Gundam is real grade, and the other 3 are high grade
>>112
You'd have to be a pretty dry humored person to not see the merit in adults buying toys for themselves every so often. I've never thrown cash away to buy toys or have an attachment to a particular brand, but if I were to simply pass by this Wile E. mug for a dollar, I'd be doing a disservice to myself. Simply put, Buying this has brought me happiness.
>>191
a ton of my old transformers broke because it turns out the plastic was shit. i do like them and i like building and deconstructing them from time to time. i really wanted to buy the g1 soundwave re-make but he was 70 bucks at Walmart which sucked and i guess i missed out. still feel bummed about it because he was my favorite from the old cartoon.
>>194
lol that's a quality bug
*mug
>>191
did you watch the beastwars cartoon?
>>236
i never watched it before, how was it?
>>240
I didn't finish first season yet, but it's good so far. Far better than 1984 Transformers cartoon I tried to watch before it.
>>236
>>272
This cartoon looks fascinating.
>>273
already sold with the shitty 2000's CGI
kinda mad this wasn't on when i was a kid.
>>122
What tools did you use to build your model kits?
>>362
Gunpla kits don't need any tools or glue. The pieces all connect together. It's fun and easy. That said, it is common practice to use a nail file for removing bad nubs (excess plastic from taking a piece out of the mold).
>>379
How much did it cost?
Also it looks cool and like good quality shit
I ordered from Amiami
7,300 JPY for figure
2,500 JPY for shipping
then I had to pay tax for the price of the figure. Overall it cost me about 75 EUR.
>>383 meant to reply to >>380
Kinda mad how expensive toys are now and the lack of variety at stores. It's actually funny how model kits are cheaper yet its really hard to find them anywhere.
For the marvel legends figures, I'm mad that there isn't any characters that i recognize (only rarely do i find someone i know of that also looks cool) and its all new shit instead of retro character or even the obscure guys like night thrasher and the like. With Mcfarlanes DC Multiverse line i find this to be happening to a lesser extent and cool shit always pops up every now and then like deathstorm or like say death metal batman but mcfarlane has issues with the sculps and shit paintjobs. atleast he tries. I'm hoping for old school wolverine and old scool deathstroke to be in stores some day.
If you haven't heard about it yet, Hasbro will be releasing new Optimus Prime from the Armada series this year. There will be Megatron too
>>742
I hope they will re-release the G1 transformers one day.
>>905
The chines are producing third party G1 toys, you may want to look into that. Of course they have upgraded engineering, better articulation etc
I probably own over 15k, modestly, in figures. Kaiju/Toku sofubi, rare gatchas, chogokins, she, 3A, third parties, shit that's never been listed on ebay once... it's obscene, but I've slowed down almost to a halt.
Had some weird ass leopard with metal claws, looks japanese and something out of power rangers, it transforms into like a arm or some bullshit and i've never found out what the damn thing is. too bad i dont have it on me otherwise i'd share it here.
>>661
THEY ARE GOING TO RELEASE OLD SCHOOL WOLVERINE FROM THE TV SHOW IN SEPTEMBER https://hasbropulse.com/collections/new/products/hasbro-marvel-legends-series-wolverine
It actually looks like a quality sculpt, And its
from the show i used to watch as a kid so it makes it even more epic.

Patiently waiting for a gunpla of Tequila Gundam, I'm thinking if it doesn't happen then fuck it, Time to 3d print one.
>>1399
That sounds cool! I am shocked people are making a gunpla of that considering G Gundam to my knowledge isn't as popular. Also, what is this about 3d printing?
Nerf or Nuthin'. For about a year now I've enjoyed popping into Goodwill and finding broken nerf guns. Then I do my best to repair them. Sometimes it's as simple as clearing a jam. With battery powered blasters it's a malfunctioning safety feature 9 times out of 10, a switch that was intended to stop the flywheels from revving up with an open jam door or empty magwell. Usually easy to bypass. Sometimes I use parts from a FUBAR blaster to repair another. If I really like a blaster I'll buy springs and spacers and special batteries and replacement parts and stuff online to juice them up. I like the challenge, I try not to ever look anything up and do it on my own. It's low stakes, cheap, and meditative. If only I had someone to skirmish with. I was tipped off recently to a group that has nerf battles, I've been meaning to see what it's about.
>>1405
The nerf battle thing where i live is basically just that one training mission on call of duty modern warfare with a regular paintball area in the back.
>>1404
>what is this about 3d printing
What do you mean? Do you not know what 3d printing is?
I'll explain anyhow because why not.
Think of making pancakes. Do you pour in the batter without thinking? No! Your pancake will end up too thick and not cook properly. You swirl the batter in to make a disc.
A print is composed of "layers" for which a computer program "slices" so the nozzle knows how to create the print like how the pancakes are made.
A spool of plastic is fed to the heating element, which melts the plastics which extrudes from the nozzle. A printer (at its lowest is roughly 200 bucks. A spool of plastic is roughly 20 bucks. An uneducated person can easily use a printer but to be honest shit happens and you need to know about eletrical engineering or about circutry, CAD and the nature of plastics or atleast know how to follow instructions on youtube. I am retarded so i do the latter to be honest. (also there are other printers out there like resin printers and such, i am just discribing the simple printer that people tend to buy) The upside is that you can make your money back tenfold by selling the shit you make and, if anything you can literally make anything you want, merch from anime or whatever that they'd never sell in stores or shit thats too expencive. (and stuff that doesnt exist) Also useful tools that you might need for a project.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=qDW7g3JOqLA [Play] (warhammer 40k minis are super fucking expencive and that guy printed super detailed shit for pennies)
It takes time and dedication. It's a pain in the ass and i wanted to kill myself several times over and spent alot of money on upgrade parts but it's kinda worth it.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3454951
People make all kinds of cool stuff too.
>>1413
I meant how does this anon have access to a 3D printer? It might be explained by the prices of 3D printers now.
>>1415
1399 here, Got mine in a free collage course where i had to pay for a (discounted) Ender 3. (this happened a few years ago) It was neat because anyone in the general public could join in as so long as they saw the ad.
Basically had to follow the teachers instructions in building the thing, squaring off the printer, leveling the bed, making something in fusion 360 and uploading it to Cura and printing it.
https://noisypixel.net/dead-space-isaac-clarke-figma-figure-prototype/
It appears that there will be figures of isaac clarke coming soon. I'm happy because i kinda missed out with dead space merch and i'm not gonna spend 200 bucks on old merch.
>>1584
I already pre-ordered one back in march if I remember correctly it should be coming somewhere around November.
>>121
I've been thinking about how long my bionicle collection will last, Some of the parts on those things cannot be replaced and some are 22 years old. I know keeping them from dropping, away from light and water is a way to extend the life of the plastic, but plastic decays. I guess that's just life i guess.
Pic 1 is of The Matoran Hewkii, He's the best kolhii player in mata nui. Pic two is of Toa Matoro, He died for your sins. Pic three is of Makuta, Later it was reviled that his real name is Teridax, And "Makuta" is his species. He's the primary antagonist in the bionicle story.
Pic four is of The Shadowed One, The leader of The Dark Hunters, Both assassins and mercenaries for hire. Not a guy you want to fuck with. He killed his own long time friend in cold blood so no one would know his secrets, All of his hunters are mentally broken and manipulated in one way or another. In the case of one hunter, His friend "dissapeared" (in actuality he was murdered by the shadowed one) and it motivated the hunter to join the shadowed one's group so he can keep searching forever.
>>1405
There's people out there that fuck with the nerf blasters in a way so it will shoot a dart so fast it can actually bruse
>>1618
Some sauce from a book about the dark hunters
>>1618
They are so cool, I wish I had more of them when I was a kid. I only got Vezok
>>1633
Vezok is pretty cool though.
>>1633
For me it was 50/50, I payed for some with what money i earned and with my allowance, and then my parents would buy me some for christmas or my birthday. My first was matoro from the marhi run and i bought or was given bionicles from all the way up to the end of the bionicle line. I'd get real lucky and fine some old lads at yard sales, Thrift stores and such. It was a pain in the ass to build the shadowed one, i was like 15 when i saw him in an old set instructions and i obsessed over trying and finding the parts to build the figure and eventually i got real fucking lucky at a yard sale when i was 17 and found an incomplete ketongu and roodaka which had enough parts to build the full figure. I thought i was a retarded kid but then i found some fan project with all the lore in one place and decided i was retarded for calling myself retarded and i decided to collect the shit out of bionicles, i feel like they need to be preserved. and if i can't find 'em then i'll buy a resin printer or something and print out some myself. (even though i know nothing about 3d printing) Saw some niggers online are trying to do stuff like this so i think its possible https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5191768
Hopfully all the lego parts will be 3d printable in the future and they wont get lost to time.
I have a bunch of more figures but i have them in storage so i have no way to show them off or talk about them.
>>1636
Oh thats a great statue of issac, I like how he kinda looks cel shaded.
I was going to target to buy an action figure that was only availible there, And i struck gold. Moble fighter g gundam, God gundam himself. Fucking epic, I love that anime and i got the best model kit. They also had noble gundam and master gundam. I would have liked if they had spiegel or even maxter but you never know of they'll release them in the future.
>>1636
did you build the RX-93 ν yourself or did you buy a figure?
>>1668
I bought a beginner assembly kit while I was on vacation, so yeah, I assembled it myself while also watching Keroro Gunsou.
I hated my nippers since it left ugly marks on my model kits but i have decided that i am a coward and i'll just stop caring and finish a model kit i was working on, and building the others i have. At the moment i am building chars zaku, revive version. I'll post pics once i am done.
I'd kill for a revive zaku but i'll probably find it in the future. And i also have a chevy impala, and a master grade RX-78-2 1.5 version that i bought for 20 bucks.
It is build. Chars zaku 2. An epic figure. HGUC RX-78-2 revive for scale. Pic two is the back of the figure, and pic 3 is to demonstrate the figures new flexible vinyl skirt.
>>1673
I like the zaku better the the rx, The articulation is fantastic and it doesn't compromise the appearance. He can sit down and re-create any pose from the anime without looking retarded. The only problem i had was some of the sprues was placed in the worst fucking spot possible and i damaged some parts which was thankfully hidden and didn't make any part loose or whatever. I also hate that the only sticker is the mono eye and i would have rather the mono eye be painted on, i actually nearly lost the sticker lol. I hate stickers.
>>1673
Do you pretend like you the Gundams are fighting each other?
>>1679
No i just stare at them. I haven't even got the urge to give them dynamic poses either.
でもオッパイだって変わる・・・ ♂必衰♂ → But even breasts change... ♂ Inevitable decline ♂
I recently bought a HG Gespenst and am awaiting it. I've wanted to try my hand at building model figures like that, and the Gespy was one of my favorite bots from Super Robot Wars OGs, so it seemed like a good fit.
I didn't start collecting toys until relatively recently. Most of them are large plushies and rag dolls, since I enjoy soft cute things of that sort.
>>1745
That's nice! Good luck with the building process.
>>1745
Has building model figures made you appreciate the series more?
Lol i lied and got the entry grade rx-93 for 5 bucks without tax. It was at target and out of stock and when i scanned it, the price said 0$ so i got exited and walked over to go and pay and the machine broke so the manager asked what price it was originally so knowing its 10 dollars usually i told him it was 5 bucks and it worked. It was also not sold in stores anymore so i think that also helped a ton.
>>905
They did. They are selling 40th anniversary re-released g1 soundwave in walmart for 40 bucks in december. Unlike the old re-release from 2019, the price is lower at 40 bucks and he comes with ravage and lazerbeak. He is also anime accurite unlike the 2019 version and cheaper because the singe figure alone was fucking 70 dollars and 20 bucks each for ravage and lazerbeak.
>>1861
Cute!
>>1861
Wow, that came out good! Most toys look cheap, but this look nice.
>>1865
Nendoroids are high quality usually. This anon has one too >>1636 (they all use similar looking stands with holes)
>>1885
I never got into that so my only point of reference is stuff from childhood which tended to be cheap.
There was a leak for a new lego set coming out next year and its the X-mansion and the Blackbird from the old x-men comics. The mansion is gonna have 30000 pieces. If true i'm going to buy it, I haven't bought a lego set in ages.
Hobby lobby has 40% off Boxed model clearance
I bought MG MSN-06S Sinanju (OVA Ver.) And 1/48 Bandai AT-ST
Can't wait to build 'em.
>>2009
also they had a model kit of the 1967 chevrolet impala at walmart, damn fine car and its the first model kit of a car i've bought but i still have a massive backlog of kit's i've yet to build lole.
so, apparantly there was a lego set of the 'thopter from dune (the movie version to be exact) its around 1300 pieces and the price is 167 bucks.
i bought it for 90 bucks and i did some searching and it's a pretty wild build. it can flap the wings like the movie, wings can fold back, cockpit opens up, and theres even a baron harkonen figure with an extra long cape to re-create the floating scene in the movie.
>>2452
some things i'd like to point out about this set, it was made to be a toy and not a display piece. i am not trying to be a dick with this but pointing out that it doesn't come with a sign or whatever. it was made using the rules lego uses for sets and it is feature heavy. it also isn't to scale and if i had to wager, i'd say it's roughly 1:30. only two figures can fit on the cockpit and the ramp on the back is more of a cosmedic thing. this is 50 percent lego and 50 percent technic, the wings flap, the landing gear and ramp on the back folds up smoothly and even the wings fold back. there are some garish colors slightly visible on the set, because of the lego rules used to make it easier for newbies to build, if you are autistic i would suggest replacing these with proper colors EARLY ON. one of the main reasons the price is so high on the set, is because several new elements where introduced, the wings, the cockpit, and the minifigs and some accessories for them.
so far i am on the third bag and dispite redditfaggots bitching about how fucking hard the set it, its easy. fuck redditniggers lol. also, another thing to consider is that if you give a damn aboit the set, they only sell them in certian stores and since lego dune is a NEW IP, most likely more sets will come so if ypur interested then keeping an ear open for news is a must.
i just so happen to like the set so far and i like the minifigs so for me its fine although i'm sure other people might get filtered due to the price, visual quality, and if they care for the 2021 movie.
>>2487
i also find it hilarious that this set exists in the first place considering that the baron is a homosexual incestious pedophile, the fremen engage in spice orgies and other stuff in the book.
another lego set i find fucking hilarious is this new indy lego set with a fucking natzi plane and i would buy it if the price is lower and sharpie on a little 卍 on the wing i dont remember the specific plane per-se but i know for a fact that it is literally damn near an exact copy of a natzi plane irl lol
>>2487
So far i'm on the 5th bag, And i would like to replace "hard" with Janky. The problem is that the set uses illegal techniques that then have to be slowly reinforced with time. it's easy to fuck up and lose progress if you are careless but it's not too bad. Another important thing to remember is the transparent plastic parts, they use a new color called transblack and its eco friendly plastic, and they scratch and nick terribly even before you take it out of the plastic. Consider how you handle the box when you buy it from the store, and when you empty the box. I'd also say to buy extra parts. I probably will because mine got nasty scratches that go real deep even though i was careful. Fuck you LEGO.
>>2522
I finished the set, Another problem i noticed is the wings are bent, some are bent upwards and others downwards and it makes the ornithopter look lopsided. Either it's the quality of the plastic or an error by the manufacturer. Perhaps with time it'll bend in the same shape? For what it's worth dispite the two problems it's a fine set.
The quality of the minifigs are not to be understated, They are highly detailed and i appreciate getting a figure of the baron.
My Desert. My Arrakis. My Dune.
would have liked if they gave the minifig a little fatsuit that clips on to make him a fat fuck under the cape
>>2009
I bought the 2022 MG MS-09 Dom. At first i didn't want to buy it but i decided otherwise a while after when i took a second look, I like the appearance and the level of details along with the plastic upgrades and reinforcement, the only nitpicks is the small details like the hands being too small. i guess there are a few other things i have to nitpick but it doesnt matter. My plan is to spray paint everything to match the colors used in the original gundam anime.
On one hand i hate how all of my local hobby shops dont have other anime based model kits, I would have liked to build the VF-1 Valkyrie from robotech but it seems all they have for several years already is gundam. BUT, it is cheap to buy gundam kits in general so who am i to complain especally since there is quite a selection.
Lol fucking mothman, (not a fan of the strap on wings though) build a bear should do the chicago nigger crab next. https://archive.4plebs.org/x/thread/24846370/
>>3055
Now i'm thinking of fucked up cryptids the normalniggers wont like such as Tokoloshe (demon critter that'll rape you or at worst or just kill you in your sleep) or the melon heads lol

I've been looking through my gogos crazy bones again. They're not easily displayable but I just love their aesthetic that's kept through their varied designs. Any fans here?
>>3190
oh yeah i remember collecting the hell out of those, several waves of em'
>>3190
I remember getting those for free at six flags. Most likely my parents threw them away some years ago.
thought i mentioned it here but a while back i bought the NECA invisible man figure for 18 bucks at walmart. havent bothered taking him out of the package but still it's very neat. kinda wish they gave him the hat like in the movie but whatever. this image made me laugh though. i also have a MEGO invisible man figure and it's pretty cool too although i kinda feel uncomfortable about the rubber head, those things tend to rot with age. if i had to buy another NECA figure it would be of john nada from they live but i'm not interested in buying it for 40 bucks and i doubt they sell him in stores anymore.
Oh i like this batman a whole lot, didn't bother too much with batman toys but i like this one, the wired cape is a plus in my eyes.
I kind of like the actual deathstorm figure better then the comic book appearance.
Something retarded i did about a year or two ago is buy this 25 dollar bundle of deathmetal batman and the batmobeast. I have zero regrets, it was cheap (20 bucks) and i am a fan of the art style and its kind of fucking hilarious to have an "edgy batman playset". I also later bought the death metal batbike although i like the comic book version better. It completed my edgy batman set and i bought it for dirt cheap (5 bucks brand new in box) so... no worries. the batman figure, although kickass has a problem with the feet being too loose for some fucking reason so its a pain in the ass to stand him up. Not a fan of the death metal comics due to its humor and light take on thd subject matter, it was a shit way to end things. (also the way they treated thd batman variants and the batman who laughs, and the inclusion of dr manhattan and the doomsday clock bullshittery) And i really kind of liked dark nights metal too. A shame, really.
>>3327
A problem with this, thought the neck was like a normal ball joint but its actually super retarded, like a super thin double ball joint. also the head and neck are connected and looks super THICK. if you take the fig oug of the box and try to move the head WATCH out because if its stiff then either lube it or leave it be because it'll break, saw it happen to a toy reviewer and man was it tragic. Also the trunks are retarded because it limits the articulation by the leg area, lets say you make the figure sit or make it do a kicking pose, the part where the leg connects uses a thin rubbery plastic that cracks super easily for SOME REASON which is just gay...
I bought the last first appearance spidey figure they had in store. The package was damaged so i had to take the figure out. I like how they are making the figures without visible pins. I noticed parts of the figure was miscolored, and i had to remove some plastic that kind of stuck out funny but it doesn't matter. No matter what i like it.
>>2908
I'm actually sure it looks like a MS-09R-2 Rick Dom II, yes its missing parts that a rick dom specifically has but i dunno like the arms and some of the parts like the hands stick out to me. Also some of the joint parts was borrowed from the dwage. Still like it and gonna build it but if i see a hguc revive version i'll snag it for anime accuracy.
i forgot to post a pic of the sinanju and the 1.5 gundam.
i learned something recently with the sinanju, where the waist peg is prone to breaking, they changed the plastic to make it less fragle, but it still breaks on people BUT, they sell brass pegs online for 10 bucks so its actually no big deal. also they sell the inner frame, but made of metal which i will totally buy in the future lol.
made some progress with the entry grade nu gundam, new nippers cut cleaner then old,but i still need to be careful.
>>3570
i finished him on halloween, everything went smooth but i fucked up on the gun part even with my new nippers. (will post a pic soon)
in other news i bought a shfigurearts figure of zoro for 10 bucks, "the raid on onigashima" version. i have no real clue why shfigurearts are so pricey, he's like 60 bucks online. also i guess people don't like him too much, i guess the outfit he wears is a thick plastic and it kills the articulation. i still think he looks cool though. personally i would have liked romance dawn but beggars can't be choosers. they had luffy for the same price but i passed on him.
