I'd check out scott mccloud's books on making comics, there's plenty of actually good information, on how to draw, things to consider and tools that are pretty solid.

Yeah, I agree, I have the first two volumes of that series and I think his book "Understanding Comics" is also a good place to start.

Just wanted to mention my thoughts on some of the books here, this is more personal musings then actual advice.
>marvel way
I feel like it was made for people who already knows how to draw. I'm an entry level nigger who basically scribbles kind of and draws really shit stickfigures. For me, its like i can kinda draw shit circles and squares the regular way, think of hod a child draws. Not to piss on myself so much, i mean i drew stuff here for fun and people seemed to like it. I wanna draw the way old school comics are like, think jack kirby, john romita and so on. I personally had a very hard time learning from the book, To me it wasn't "making sense" like i couldn't replicate what was shown and follow the steps. Not to say, its a bad book, it's kinda fucking important especially nowadays, i've read too many comic books with dogshit, bland, stale art. Take the dune graphic novel, it's bland as fuck, stale artwork of two characters talking, with nothing really going on. It's a shame because dune is a great book, and if marvel adapted that shit in the 80's it would have been epic. The book has a good perspective on drawing in a cinematic way. Also, the information on tools and paints are gone now, most of the brands, brushes, paints are gone or suffer in quality nowadays.
>right side of the brain
Same problem as before, although i did actually improve a tiny bit. I find the information about the right/left brain iffy but the whole concept of "unconcious drawing" is super important. Also, the homework aspect are actually really fun, it reminds me of those old brainteaser books i used to do as a kid.
>keys to drawing
Did a tiny bit, i feel like if i work on this one i might hopefully will reach some type of breakthrough although life got in the way and i haven't drawn in months although i'm going to try again soon.

The books listed are mostly legacy, they can be updated. From that list, the only one I’d recommend is Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. It’s simple, and having the upside-down drawing as the first exercise is a great choice to motivate people. What I really like is that it explains most of the draftsmanship lingo, values, negative space, composition, perspective, etc.

As for which book to follow after that, I’m not sure. It gets trickier there. I can only think of doing iterative drawing and sketching multiple times.

The picture is really gone, probably because I did close my tab. Oh well... I'll just go with the last drawing I coloured.
Some weird fish guy lol.
I accidentally saved it as png and deleted the program I drew it with cuz I wanted to switch to krita... So I don't think I'll finish it more than it is. I should probably study more human anatomy and what makes colours appealing. I find it quite difficult to not be lazy with my line art, it's just so tedious... But I don't want to draw without outlines either...

Cute Elephant! I can't seem to replay the drawing like on /i/ though, but then again, I'm not even that familiar with /i/ or oekaki in general...

there are several diffrent ways of looking at this thread.
1: you can draw like shit on purpose (for humor or otherwise
2: you post shit art in general because you lack skill and such and post the art you made
3: /ic/ Artwork/Critique, learn from your mistakes and use this thread to improve
DO NOT POST ART OTHERS HAVE MADE, this thread is for original content only.
another goal is to let people hang loose in the sense that they don't need to fear that "im so bad at drawing lol i just shouldn't even post my drawings on 22chan i'll just be banned or made fun of" nonsense, i think unless your a nigger everything should be fine unless you go out of your way to like break the rules or something.

>we're nigger cattle herders we got a herd of nigger cattle, they are the most docile fucking nigger cattle we got 'em so docile we got this awesome big fucking herd of nigger cattle and they shit and they sit there and they watch TV and they shit
media is ofted viewed as disposable entertainment viewed, and thrown away. what if instead of glossing over it, we instead examined the art therein?
the goal of this thread is to post actual art you find while consuming media, comic books, screenshots from an anime or movie, manga, the sky is the limit. it can be abstract art, still life or anything, and you don't exactly have to name the source although i'm sure it would be appreciated by others to know where it came from. image related is from berserk.

This looks WWI era, so does that mean the smaller rider is supposed to be Tsar Nicholas? Why is he small like a swaddled baby and almost like a captive of the soldier? It's common for propaganda to make an enemy leader small and petulant, but this feels different somehow. The text at the bottom says like "my son, why do you hide your face in fear?" It's an old-timey saying, maybe it's the soldier speaking to the Tsar who is horrified by the actions of his military? That's not how I've learned to see the Russian Empire and it's a strange dynamic for a piece of German or Austrian propaganda to center on

>'Jubilee' — Austrian illustration published in Die Muskete magazine, 13 March 1913, showing Tsar Nicholas II on a horse amid a vast sea of blood and corpses, with a deathly figure sat behind him holding a whip.
>The text at the bottom - 'My son, why do you hide your face in fear?' - is a line from Goethe’s poem 'Erlkönig', which this illustration parodies.
>This issue was published shortly after the jubilee celebrations in Russia, held in February to mark the tercentenary of the Romanov dynasty.
So you got it mostly right. This was a magazine cover, not a proper propaganda poster, so that's why it feels different maybe. Considering the jubilee, I guess the soldier is supposed to represent the Romanov's legacy, and Nicholas is shown as weak or something. In Goethe's poem there is a father and son on horseback, so it could also be just in reference to that.
