'Twas a grim day, when Fat Cat came to town. Fatipher was his given Christian name, but he was not a very Christian cat. He always found the things he took to be more valuable than the things he was given. So, he took the name of Fat Cat and it was Fat Cat that came to town.
At the first sight of Fat Cat's unmistakable silhouette, crowds dispersed, shutters were closed, and curtains were drawn. Fat Cat didn't mind. He preferred it this way.
Apart from Fat Cat's own footfalls, the only sound that could be heard was the hum of a hurdy gurdy on the street corner. There sat old Skinny Kitty, cranking away obliviously, his upturned hat no fuller for it.
fat cat entered his apartment building, empty and gloomy. after climbing some stairs he reached his abode.
