Don't you just hate it when content in a flash game is locked to a site?

Finished on hard. I played this game when it was new, but was never good enough to clear it before. As it turns out, micro is essential in the later stages. I first found that I needed it in the level with the giants, where my strategy was to control a swordsman and bait the approaching giants into whiffing attacks so they'd be slower to reach my base, allowing me to develop enough wizards to overpower them.
Upgrading between levels is a fun mechanic, too. I upgraded miners and passive income first, then wizards, archers, and giants. I only put a few points into swordsmen at the end, which I probably should have done sooner, considering how cheap they are, but I think my build order was pretty sensible. Upgraded archers are especially good; it's practically essential to have at least 4 of them for defense. I found spearmen to be too expensive to be useful for long after their introduction, so I didn't spend upgrade points on them.

With me it's quite the opposite, I haven't used units outside the Spearton and Archidonis. The thing about Speartons is that they're expensive because they are busted while being controlled by the player since their damage almost triplicates (From 34 to 103 on max spear upgrade) and you are able to block manually, making you near immortal by the endgame thanks to the shield upgrade.
Upgrading miners first is something I never did as a kid until the final levels because I put everything into Archidonis and passive upgrade, but having big bag miners early is essential to finish fast, I usually use around 6.
Playing the game on Insane is more fun to me since enemies have better upgrades from the beginning, but you can only play it on the original site (http://stickpage.com/stickwargameplay.shtml) with a browser that still supports flash or in Flashpoint.
