Atlus are a bunch of jews so buying persona 5 isn't as easy as you think. Persona 5 was originally developed, and then released for the ps3. With the ps4, came obvious visual upgrades and minor changes due to more powerful hardware. Royal is a diffrent game, totally reworked visuals, gameplay, and assets including dialoge changed to reflect the original japanese script, even a scene is reworked in which instead of ryujii getting raped in the red light district by a bunch of faggots, it's changed where he's dragged off in the dark and forced to wear drag.
Royal comes with a new storyline and major alterations to include more story, making the gameplay as long as 100+ hours instead of the usual 40+ or less hours. BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!!! So, those motherfuckers at fatlus added a disability mode, that you can't disable, which fucks with the UI, and cutscenes, so as to not cause people a stroke but it makes the game look like actual trash. As an example, during an "all out attack", the visuals are edited out, the attack shortened, amd the visuals darkened, from bright red to very dark red. This isn't in the Ps3, 4, switch, and royal versions, but in the ps5 and xbox? yes. i heard the PC version has the same problem bug i don't know. The switch versions has noteworthy downgrades including crunchy, compressed audio, the ps5 version has high framerates and native 4k, at the cost of the aformentioned disability problems, including more problems with lighting that wasn't fixed.
I think its more proof as to why it's really good to do research, and watch youtube videos before you snag a copy, so you get a good copy or buy the correct game. Youtube also has some decent videos actually looking at the diffrent versions, and how they reflect apon hardware, various platforms and so on, and most of them are non spoiler. A good thing is that old copies of persona 5 are actually dirt cheap, 10 or lower, while royal depending on what platform, might be more expensive. I bought a copy of The royal for ps4 for 30 dollars, new at walmart.
