I've put together a fancy graph for calculating shots:

The sliders let you edit your power, angle, time, gravity, wind, and screen resolution (for the guidelines) in the domain of actual in-game values. The graph shows the parabolic arc of your shot, the projectile's position at the selected time, the angle and power you've selected, the acceleration vector (wind + gravity), and screen borders (assuming your worm is centered), as well as another set of borders scaled for full-screen shots. Positions are measured in pixels.
I can't vouch for the fairness or practicality of using this calculator during a game, but I created it for the purpose of memorizing setups and building an intuition. For example, default values show a nearly exact half-screen bazooka shot that I can easily make if the wind is right. Remember to set wind to 0 for weapons unaffected by wind.

Here are some easy angle setups:
- Max mortar angle (approximate): 87 degrees
- Kamikaze: 45 degrees
- Blowtorch: 22.5 degrees
- Baseball Bat (approximate): 75 degrees
The longbow also has a maximum angle, but I can't verify what it is. Probably 45 degrees.

Having said all this, we tend to take it easy and screw around a lot in actual games, so it's more for fun than anything. I always want to encourage newcomers.

I'm back with more highlights.
In the past few sessions, I've been hosting some shopper. This is a mode where players are supposed to follow 3 rules:
- Crate Before Attack: You must collect a crate before you are allowed to use a weapon
- Attack From Rope: Any weapon that can be used while hanging from the rope must exclusively be used that way
- Kill The Leader: An attack must damage the player with the most health in order to be legal
Conventionally, breaking the rules incurs a penalty of skipping the following turn. It's a lot to remember, but this mode is fun because it places great emphasis on the rope, which is needed to traverse the custom-made shopper maps.
At the end of the video, you'll see some speed records taken from games of WxW shopper. This is an alternative version of shopper that adds an additional rule requiring a player to touch all of the marked walls on the map before attacking. This mode takes practice, because there's barely enough time to hit all the walls. I'll try to maintain the records for each of these maps in case they are broken later.

I've just finished creating a brand new WxW map. As a gimmick, it has a 360 point in the center. Expect to see it in play soon. Naturally, I'll keep track of the speed record. I've decided that because making a 360 cannot be easily pinpointed to a particular frame, any eligible record should start and end on hitting a wall rather than rounding the point. Anyway, this is unlikely to come up, as any route that starts or ends in the center would surely be suboptimal.
I also prepared an alternate version of our in-house scheme, 22normal. This one, I call 22kuso. It has max-power ropes and allows unlimited attacks per turn. Obviously, it will be very random and unbalanced. Scheme settings may be subject to change.

I also wanted it to be viable for tournament play in case I ended up holding such an event, but that hasn't come to pass. I've just finished this new Bow & Arrow map with an Azumanga Daioh theme. Expect to see it in upcoming sessions.
Obviously, none of the art is original, so it wasn't too hard to throw together, but randomly generating a suitable formation of dots was trickier than I expected, even with the power of GIMP. There's probably a fancy to do it with Python or something, but I just used the noise-generating filters until I got results I could work with.
Anyway, there may be more maps to come. Lately, I've been hosting a lot of Surf Shopper, which is a scheme where players must use the rope to skip across the water, like in the clip at 3:00 in the webm above. It requires specialized maps, and I don't have many, so that's a good candidate for something new.

They've saved a few, but it's easy for a worm to slide off. Plus, there are usually mines on top of them. In practice, I think they mostly provide mobility for worms stranded at the bottom, since it's easy to climb up them using low g and parachutes.

Here's that Surf map. I gave it a 360 point, since that worked well in the WxW map. With a bit of skill, you can go smoothly from a surf into a 360 and back into another surf. The open ceiling also allows for some fun maneuvers. I'll try and show this map in action in the next highlight webm.

These highlights show off the new maps a bit. There's also a clip of Goku Battle Arena, a scheme I've been hosting lately. In it, worms can fly freely with the parachute and use rapid fireballs to attack. It's played at an accelerated speed.
