I'm unsure whether this post would fit /meta/ or not so I'm doing it here.

This is the thread where people can post memories and stories of 22chan pre- Twoot Abandonment. Fun times, interesting interactions or major events should be catalogued here. We want any newfags to be able to find and read our history so perhaps the people that come after us won't lose sight of our roots as a community.
Anything 22chan related like images, comics, or memes of Niniba can also be posted and shared.

The story that comes to mind for me is when Spacechan and its offshoots died due to autism and then we got a bunch of refugees. There was that guy who posted those Richter pictures and a few other anons who asked if they would be allowed to take refuge in our community. I don't know if those same anons are around now or what happened to the rest of their community but it was a strange time. 22 nearly got pulled into some shit that nobody wanted to be a part of.

I wanted to revive the 4chan discussion thread for a while now, but I kind of didn't know what a good OP would be to attract attention to the thread and generate interesting discussion. So I took and translated this video by OwataP, about Owacons, who encapsulates all of the rage he had for Nico Nico Douga's management ever since Dwango partnered together with KADOKAWA in 2010 and then acquired in 2014 when the site's management slowly started to become a corporate hell making one terrible decision after another starting really with Nico Nico Douga Zero "Return to Origin" a large-scale update that fundamentally changes the system for the worst (read: https://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/ニコニコ動画%3Azero) So this actually transitions pretty well into this topic since Hiroyuki the current administrator of 4chan used to be a director at Niwango which was created by Dwango to mainly manage Nico Nico Douga, until he left in 2013.

I want this thread to encapsulate discussion about 4chan and other discussion forums in general that have shit management and treat its userbase like complete utter trash (such as collecting as much data as possible and then selling it whether its to advertisement companies or three-letter agencies like just imagine the folder structures on 4chan for example regarding everyone's data that's on there used to try and identify you.)
The questions I really wanted to ask in this thread are:
What was so excruciatingly bad about these places that made you want to leave and seek out a place like 22chan or other alternative imageboards/textboards?
Although very unlikely to happen, are you worried that if 22chan ever took off that the same problems that arose in those other places you left start appearing here, and do you think there are ways to prevent this from happening?

While we’ve had discussions on how to increase activity, I want to take a step back and simply ask what you think of 22chan, whether you’ve just arrived or have been part of the community for a while.

How did you find out about 22chan?
What were your first thoughts as you explored the site?
What do you enjoy or hate most about 22chan so far?
Are there features, threads, aspects of site culture, or parts of the site that stand out?
(For instance, is there anything that’s made you feel hesitant to participate, or anything you find especially welcoming?)
For those who’ve been here longer, what keeps you coming back?

Some users have suggested that 22chan start its own YouTube channel to help attract new users by showcasing the OC created by our community. The idea is to upload videos that originated on 22chan and include a link to the original post in the description. However, this raises a few important questions:

What qualifies as "content made for 22chan"?
Should only content specifically created for 22chan be uploaded? For instance, in the case of content like the MAD video translations in >>>/a/389/, these videos are derivative works and may already exist elsewhere unlike >>>/sewers/1314/ which is clearly made for 22chan. Should they still be considered for upload? I personally think this would attract people from specific niches.
Who decides what gets uploaded?
Should the decision rest with the entire 22chan community, or should we leave it to the original creators of said content to submit videos they think is suitable for the channel?
(I'll re-edit this post with the answered questions once we figure this out.)

The channel will be located at https://www.youtube.com/@nijyuniba.
To submit a new video for the channel, please quote the specific post where the content was originally shared on the site and include a title. Avoid uploading the actual OC directly to this thread unless it's a higher-quality version or has been updated in some way. Generally, the content should originate from other parts of the website and not be created specifically for this thread.
If anyone would like to contribute by creating an avatar for the channel, it would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if you think this idea might not be beneficial for 22chan or could have a negative impact, please let us know your reasoning! Honest discussion is what helps us make the best choices for the community.

From the idea of >>>/meta/359, we'll take random posts from 22chan and turn them into drawings, whether they're full illustrations or just simple sketches. These could be anything from single drawings to mini-comic strips, depending on what fits best.

This is from >>>/sewers/1294/#1302.
I'm sure we could come up with some name for this pervert...

22Chan Town Hall Anonymous Tue 14/11/2023 4:35:47 AM 1 year ago MER No. 259

>"What is this?"
22Chan Town Hall was suggested in 2019, but was ignored. In 2020 it was mentioned again but nothing was done about it. 2021 came along and a thread was made but nothing came of it, And later the site shut down. This time, We are actually doing it.
Now back to the main question. Moot had a regular townhall where everyone on 4chan would gather on IRC to have a semi-meta roundtable discussion with all of the userbase, And later it moved to the /q/ board and the format changed to a single thread, We plan on doing the latter. The discussion in the thread can be serious and candid, or just general discussion. (good place for newcomers to get a QRD on 22chan and to know the staff better.)
This thread is to better refine the idea, Suggestions on what to do, Add, Or change, and even polls to decide stuff.
Here are the previous poll results.

What time should 22Chan Town Hall take place?
I.E When are you available? The time zone is in Central European Time.
First place: 9:00 PM
Second place: Staff should decide

How long should 22Chan Town hall last?
First place: 30 Minutes
Second place: For the whole day

When should 22Chan Town Hall occur?
First place: Staff should decide
Second place: Once weekly

Dispite the old results, I plan on setting up new polls. But i have a question. how long should voting last? How many days? Or months even?

The first 22chan Townhall is scheduled to take place on December 25th, at 10:00 PM UTC.

This thread will remain stickied on /all/ until the Town Hall event takes place.
