Don't complain about the quality of the posts... especially on sewers. It's what killed the userbase off of the website the first time was people complaining about how shit a post was and drove people off because they didn't know what to post anymore. If it really doesn't belong on /sewers/ the mods will take care of it.

22Chan Town Hall Anonymous Tue 14/11/2023 4:35:47 AM 1 year ago No. 259

>"What is this?"
22Chan Town Hall was suggested in 2019, but was ignored. In 2020 it was mentioned again but nothing was done about it. 2021 came along and a thread was made but nothing came of it, And later the site shut down. This time, We are actually doing it.
Now back to the main question. Moot had a regular townhall where everyone on 4chan would gather on IRC to have a semi-meta roundtable discussion with all of the userbase, And later it moved to the /q/ board and the format changed to a single thread, We plan on doing the latter. The discussion in the thread can be serious and candid, or just general discussion. (good place for newcomers to get a QRD on 22chan and to know the staff better.)
This thread is to better refine the idea, Suggestions on what to do, Add, Or change, and even polls to decide stuff.
Here are the previous poll results.

What time should 22Chan Town Hall take place?
I.E When are you available? The time zone is in Central European Time.
First place: 9:00 PM
Second place: Staff should decide

How long should 22Chan Town hall last?
First place: 30 Minutes
Second place: For the whole day

When should 22Chan Town Hall occur?
First place: Staff should decide
Second place: Once weekly

Dispite the old results, I plan on setting up new polls. But i have a question. how long should voting last? How many days? Or months even?

After visiting /server/ I find the argument against /lit/ and /film/ to be very weak. If four threads are enough to justify that board existing when there's already /vg/, it's a poor litmus of viability.
Anonymous Sat 19/04/2025 9:07:52 AM 2 days ago No. 488

/server/ was basically made because posters kept bumping threads announcing server opening sessions, and it got rather annoying to the point of offshooting to its own board to combat against other general discussion threads from being bumped down. It appears though that anon is no longer active on this site, which is why /server/ has a lack of activity now.

Although, if we want a /www/ to be a thing, I suppose we have to prove it to the 22staff that if there's enough activity, we'll eventually earn a dedicated board for Internet Culture, is what I'm getting at from this conversation, so far; although I haven't seen anyone outside of those interested talking about /www/ and activities against it, other than the reasonable argument that we should earn it if user activity justifies the creation of a new board for a specific purpose and interest from flooding the random board.

I'm willing to compromise not having the other boards, but /www/ is the main one I want given that most of the internet culture stuff are taking up a rather decent sized portion of /b/ and would benefit just being in its own containment board to make it easy to find; especially newcomers who aren't used to or have no clue about tags, or find it unintuitive compared to just having everything consolidated to a special board.
Anonymous Sat 19/04/2025 7:57:48 PM 1 day ago No. 491

That being said, it's reasonable to want to see more user activity in order to fully justify adding a new board just for a specific interest like Internet Culture. Should probably get to work on contributing to those threads and hopefully that will convince 22staff to find reason to justify its existence.

It has come to our attention that the site may appear somewhat neglected as of late, and we wish to assure you that there is a valid reason for this.
Our staff has been occupied with the development of a new imageboard software based on the Django framework.
We are excited to present an early preview of our work, which you can access at https://alpha.22chan.org/.
We cordially invite you to participate in our alpha test and appreciate any feedback you might have regarding the site.

When showing newcomers this website, all of them had trouble finding the "Search" and "Tag" functions or were never really drawn to those functions until I pointed it out.
Is there an explanation for this (preventing abuse, for example), or maybe a way to have it more prominent in the menu bar so it is more obvious to see and use?

I suggest they should be at the very top section above the "General Boards", and rather have its own unique indicators (images, banners, whichever) to draw the users eye while also not detracting from the consistent theme design.

While we’ve had discussions on how to increase activity, I want to take a step back and simply ask what you think of 22chan, whether you’ve just arrived or have been part of the community for a while.

How did you find out about 22chan?
What were your first thoughts as you explored the site?
What do you enjoy or hate most about 22chan so far?
Are there features, threads, aspects of site culture, or parts of the site that stand out?
(For instance, is there anything that’s made you feel hesitant to participate, or anything you find especially welcoming?)
For those who’ve been here longer, what keeps you coming back?

>How did you find out about 22chan?
Sometime a while ago, in a different altchan that doesn't exist anymore.
>What were your first thoughts as you explored the site?
I appreciated the quality. It seemed like a small, good, pure place. I found it boring at the time, however.
>What do you enjoy or hate most about 22chan so far?
I don't have much to hate about 22chan other than how dead it is. My favorite part is the fact that it's a small, insular community that cares about itself a lot.
>Are there features, threads, aspects of site culture, or parts of the site that stand out?
The sheer amount of fun, interesting, and quality of life changes made to the traditional *chan format is astounding. The inclusion of the IME Pad and Tegaki are some of my favorites.
However I admit that making posts here can be daunting at times, because it's a site and community that deserves real communication. For people who want to randomly shitpost, they should go to 4chan.
>For those who’ve been here longer, what keeps you coming back?
If I had to be honest, part of it is the lack of any other quality altchans around. If any serious competition comes around, even if the posts aren't as high quality, I'd worry about the health of the community. Something about the people who post here is very... suffocating, and this space has a very "professional" and 'well dressed' feeling to it that isn't as conducive to a huge number of posts. It simply cannot be both a highly active yet high quality chan.

>How did you find out about 22chan?
Referral from a trusted friend.
>What were your first thoughts as you explored the site?
This is a funny nitpick but seeing /vg/ instead of /v/ makes me curious why it was called /vg/, as I am used to seeing Videogame Generals as a distinct thing.
>What do you enjoy or hate most about 22chan so far?
I love love the MP4 embeds. I can't quite make use of the NND embeds yet, sadly.
>Are there features, threads, aspects of site culture, or parts of the site that stand out?
I absolutely adore the IME Pad. It's a phenomenal feature. ♪ ✫ ♡
>Requests
At a glance certain things I'm familiar with on 4chan in the form of reply functionality not being here are a minor hindrance, but I actually prefer it being a little more of an inconvenience to have to go to the bottom of the page and so on for the sake of making it require effort. It's minimal effort but enough effort to deter undesirables.

I will have more to share in the future. There are also some things I don't know yet and will report back perhaps later on when I've been here awhile.

1. Sort the "News" by newest to oldest, rather than the current oldest to newest.
2. When using "Overboard" and reaching the end of the page, have a throbber or loading animation to indicate that more threads are loading on the overboard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throbber
3. When the thread's replies auto updates, I would like the (X) count in the title bar to update to (0) once I finished reading the new replies.
4. I would definitely like the suggestions thread to be around the front page (perhaps around the Information section) so it is easy for new visitors to find this thread and make suggestions.

Some of them can be used but some are just a collection of long text which wouldn't really fit into the quote feature. You also mention posts like 352 which quotes comes from a completely different website. It's just one long and confusing post which you should instead shorten to a small list of your favorite ones that can fit into the home page's quote feature.
