The dice which decides every single action in the game is acting as its own separate entity, the equivalent of you throwing a dice in real life. The outcomes it produces aren't pre-determined by your selected class or your character's attributes. The character attributes seem to have a relatively limited influence on the gameplay, only contributing a +2 bonus to the dice roll in certain situations. Even when you select a character focused on persuasion and charisma, like a bard for instance, and opt for a Bard-specific dialogue option during a conversation, the game still insists on a random dice roll exceeding 15 for success, regardless of your character's specific attributes. Even choosing the strongest class doesn't guarantee victory in battles, as the outcome largely depends on the randomness of the dice roll. There seems to be a lack of purpose in having different classes due to this randomness. It's just so frustrating so why not just go and play real D&D Tabletop at this point?

Are the other D&D games any good?
Have you ever heard of a game that was going to come out, But it wasn't what you expected? Did you ever see a game that was canceled that had an exelent story or idea that was shelved for no reason? Did you ever play a game, Only to discover the game wasn't completed? Maybe you saw cut content in a game that was unused but still would have been great if it was added? I used to play LittleBigPlanet 2 every day back when it was new. It was such a revolutionary iteration on the first game, I figured 3 would have limitless potential. I even remember a Game Informer article jokingly claiming that LBP3 would have players code their own games from scratch. As ridiculous as the idea was, it wasn't much of a stretch from what people were already doing in 2. Instead, the game we got was just a misguided rehash with none of the same energy about it. I hardly even played it after finishing the underwhelming story mode.
I never really looked into why this was the case, but I gather Media Molecule wasn't involved with LBP3 in the same way as with the first two. At least they moved on to make Dreams, which seems to be more in-line with what I had been expecting, although I've never played it myself. I've always appreciated games with robust level editors; I think they led to my interest in programming.

Dark Deity is one game that, from a story standpoint, failed to live up to its potential. Gameplay-wise, it is similar to the Fire Emblem series, with well-executed gameplay similar to that of that series. The gameplay was what I loved the game for. The story itself is completely forgettable. I beat the game last month, and I've already forgotten the story. The conversation between the characters I unlocked was a chore to read through too. Have you ever played a game where the gameplay was good, but the story was bad?
Morrowind makes me mad because todd howard was the director, The story of the game is so rich, And so much could have come to a sequal but instead came oblivion which for its time looked terrible and the story itself is watered down and even slightly non-canon and then all the other shit that came after.
Sometimes i can only imagine if morrowind was directed by someone else and what would have came from it.

Another game by God Howard himself that comes to mind is Fallout: New Vegas.
Part of the problem is that they got the original fucking team that made the original fallout games, Gave them 15 fucking months to make it and the shitty fallout 3 engine as a means of making it.
The writing and a ton of the gaming aspects are fucking incredible but the shitty copy-pasted engine thats held togeather by sting and glue is pretty much toast and the graphics are for shit along with tons of bugs.
i was reading a blog entry by chris avalone about the honest heart DLC and hpw they where inspired by old comicbooks and stuff and it was interesting and MAN does it suck to see such ideas wasted on a shit platform. hell the offical new vegas comic is pretty damn good. i almost feel like they could have told the entire damn story in comic book format but i guess i can understand the want for a game and the problems with working for shitty gaming companies.
Did you ever challenge yourself in a game? Put yourself in a situation out of boredom, or to spice up an old game you played before? Did you know of anyone who did a challange that was interesting?
I read Berserkand afterwards i started playing Dark Souls a few years ago and i figured "fuck it, i want my guy to carry a big sword and fuck magic and projectile weapons, i want to beat every retard with the same sword" and then i spotted the elite knight set and i decided to use that entire set for the whole game. i had a ring that gave me more energy, and havels ring and a grass crest shield and i changed nothing besides one time i had to enter the abyss and needed the abyss walker ring to survive.
I also did some minor research into soft and hard caps and basically dumped everything into the stats i needed and ignored the stats i didn't use. basically everything besides faith and magic.
I also found and abused grinding spots for roughly five hours and damn near maxed everything out and i had like 99 liquid souls and 99 regular souls times two on hand incase i lost everything.
Keep in mind i didn't have the master key so i pretty much had to build myself up which took time, wasn't like i was playing on easy mode but i did well for what it was worth. Magic was the gamekiller, i had zero protection and some entry level low grade magic literally damn near insta-killed me and don't talk to me about that blind draggon faggot and his dancing wizard and his crystal caverns, i think i died over 300 times because of him. also the butterfly, in order to survive i took an anons advice and stripped buck naked with only a shield and my zweihander and that battle was difficult as fuck. Also the one eyed dragon nearly got be twice, before i even reached his boss area and halfway through the battle.
Should i have bothered challanging myself before i even played the game? No, But it was actually fun and made the playthrough memorable.4 replies omitted. Click here to view. (Bump Limit: 250)
Another gamekiller boss was Dark Sun Gwyndolin
Against all other attacks i could tank but magic? NO. I actually quit playing out of frustration (for damn near the entire year) but then i figured out that you could stand behind pillars and you can effectively time out when to hide, and when to run and eventually you'll get him to stop running.
He'll stand there like a fucking idiot because i guess he ran out of room and he'll stop nuking you and only throw those shitty metal spikes and you can pretty much one shot him if your powerful enough.
I was in a middle of a run, But i left the game for a year and i don't remember the controls and what to do so i'm better off starting over.
I was playing New Vegas, and i had a very interesting playthough. I was new to the game and instead of playing as "myself" I decided to play as "The Punisher" and kill a fuck ton of people i hated and damn the concequences. The most important targets was LGBT, I went and googled all characters related to that and made a little "war journal" of who they where, what they looked like, and where they where located. They where the most important and the lesser people to kill where people i figured where "degenerates" i.e cannibals and gouls, and then "retards" like wifebeaters or people that i hated for whatever reason. The most important people i had to kill in CREATIVE WAYS. And NOT IN THE SAME WAY. As an example if i shot one person miles away that was the only time i could do that. I wish there where more expressive ways to kill people lol like imagine hanging a few people to like a windmill and turning it on at top speed lol.
One way i had to kill a guy was nuking him at point blank range AND SURVIVING, meaning i had to fuck with my stats, carry the correct items and wear the correct stuff.
To make matters worse for myself i was playing on survival mode with the highest difficulty so i can only carry so much, had to constantly eat and rad-away was super fucking slow.
It was a fun run and there's so much that went wrong lol and i'm looking forward to doing it again especially don't remember too much of it (besides pissing off the entire brotherhood of steel and fending them off with a fuck ton of gernades and a shitty pistol.

Also mutated animals count but the problem is there's this one scorpion thats unkillable, because of a bug. He ran into a rock and imploded on me so i guess that counts as a kill but man i don't want to face that fucker again, i used all my fatmans on him and he kept coming at me.
I also don't know if i'll break the game by killing someone important but hey i've glitched my way out of problems before so maybe i'll figure out a way to survive.
from dos up to PSX, something pretty, preferablly with machines and tanks
jrpg maybe
also not front mission or ffs

I just finished a 1cc of Thunder Force II. Since I was emulating on BizHawk, I took a replay, so the webm is my favorite boss fight.
I haven't played many shmups other than Touhou, but I'm glad I branched out. This game has a different appeal, probably more typical of the genre, with simple bullet patterns that emphasize speed rather than density. Also, the levels have terrain instead of just enemies, so there are multiple routes at times. The level design does a good job at bringing out the strengths of the various weapons, which can be selected on the fly, creating some fun strategy.
The levels alternate between freely scrolling top-view segments and more standard side-view segments like the one shown. The top-view levels are generally easier, but they have lucrative time bonuses. This game is generous in giving out extra lives for scoring, so it's rewarding to optimize for speed. I understand the first game was comprised entirely of top-view levels, and they were axed in the third. At any rate, I appreciated the variety.
In summation, this is a quintessential Genesis game with fun gameplay and a cool soundtrack. I've downloaded the ROMs for the sequels, too, so I'll probably play them next. Does anyone know about them?
>>577
You really can doge the shit they throw at you.
>does anyone know about them
I had a playstation 2 version when i was a kid. It was still a sidescroller bullet hell game, but in 3d.

thunder force 4 has 0 flaws. For me it's my favorite shmup, the perfect game. Playing them backwards, 3 was underwhelming in comparison, but I somehow enjoyed 2 more. I remember being stuck on the level preceding that boss, and how proud I felt when I beat it. I've only got to the final topdown level a few times, but haven't beat it.
>>583
I feel like thats funny because usually as a series grows, sometimes the later games usually are shit.
>>577
I finished Thunder Force III. It's a lot easier than the previous game. In fact, this may be the easiest shmup I've ever played. I had to record a whole level for the webm because the bosses all go down in seconds.
Still, I think this game is generally superior to Thunder Force II. Taking away the top-view levels keeps things focused and coherent, and the level design feels more intentional. Again, it leans into the variety of weapons as the main strategic element.
The graphics are greatly improved, not only with better sprites, but also some cool parallax effects and foreground elements, among other things. Likewise, the soundtrack has more nuance and longer loops.
As well-made as it is, this game is easy to recommend, especially for beginners. It might warrant a replay on a higher difficulty eventually, but first I'll move on to Thunder Force IV.
>Get the perfect build
>Nearly 20 Brutality levels
>Do over 8K damage per hit (screenshot was taken several levels before Dracula)
>Alongside a 60% damage bonus against enemies who are bleeding
>Get to Dracula, a pretty simple but long and tanky boss
>Instantly die to some offscreen bullshit while healing
>Don't even get a chance to get him to phase two

>Be playing Darkest Dungeon
>Almost ready to take on the last area, nearly three full teams of level 6 characters
>Then, the Brigands attack
>The entirety of my second best team died. Simon, Dismas, Prestcote, and Restault
>A Crusader, Highwayman, Arbalest and Vestal accordingly
>It call came down to Dismas facing off against basically an entire army
>He survived a surprisingly long time. He always was the toughest
>Then, all of their trinkets were stolen
>To get them back, I had to hunt down the Shrieker, a level 6 boss
>The only team I had that could possibly have a chance at recollecting our stolen goods was a team with a level 3 front liner
>They were being demolished. Two of the team were stressed beyond belief and two others were on Deaths Door constantly
>When things seemed bleakest, the new recruit got too stressed and rolled Courageous
>Despite having only a 13% chance to hit, the new recruit landed every single one
>He did nearly 30 damage per hit, absolutely decimating the boss within record time
>He literally saved the day in more ways than one
I hate this game sometimes. It's RNG bullshit. But sometimes, that RNG bullshit can make for some real interesting stories
I had a real heated moment recently playing ds3. Bascially, I was fighting the demon prince boss, and I was able to bring it to <10% of health. It was a quite intense battle, and it took me several attempts to reach that point.
And that's when I ran out of mana flasks. Yep, I'm a pyromancer. I could do nothing but stare at it as it killed me.
This boss was otherwise quite fun actually, and it looks pretty awesome. But I really dislike the fact that I had to grind for it. This has never happened before; I never had to grind to beat a boss because it was always a skill issue, or I could go to some other area first instead. Here instead my only options were to optimize the fight in order to consume less health flasks (fucking bullshit) or farm. And it's the first time I really had to go farm some souls to deal more damage and look up on youtube locations of bonus flasks, and that was quite disappointing. I finally beat it today. I'm a bit tired of this game to be honest, the last couple bosses burned me out, but I gotta finish it...
>>288
RNG taketh, RNG giveth, lol. I find it interesting how RNG can contribute to a game being really fun if it's balanced. I've been playing a deck builder called dominion lately and while randomness has much influence, skill still matters a lot; so in the end it's a good mix. No-RNG games like chess instead can become a headache pretty quickly.
Not really about the game itself but it really pissed me off. I had downloaded Factorio yesterday and spent the entire day playing it. After the gaming session I realized I had gotten 1.1.3 something instead of the most recent one (1.1.80), so I went and downloaded it, choosing to uninstall the old version. Today I wanted to resume my game and realized the uninstaller also deleted my save. Really pissed me off, the fucking thing didn't even ask me if I wanted to delete saved games like other uninstallers do

How is the remake? Is it another shit remaster or does it fix some problems that the original game had. Is there a focus on psychological horror? Besides that one thing you brought up, How are the graphics? Do they hold up? Or is the whole thing something to rage about?
>>569
As a pretty big fan of the original, I actually really like the remake. I would absolutely recommend it but the game is riddled with audio bugs. From nape to navel the audio is absolutely terrible. Oftentimes big combat segments would be dead silent. Music won't play at all or will only start to play well after the combat's over. Sound effects would drop or be extremely delayed, oftentimes not playing at all.
I'm a massive fan of the original Dead Space, and I think this game is really good. The gameplay is solid, the weapon rebalances are great, the changes they made to the formula were almost exclusively positive, the new story is interesting, and I like Isaac's writing. But, I just CAN'T recommend this because the audio problems are so pervasive they will ruin the entire experience.
Let us discuss the Dark Soul's trilogy, from lore to gameplay to anything else that's relevant. What's Dark souls? A third-person, dark fantasy action adventure RPG With a focus on minimalistic storytelling and exploration.
Your goals: Understand what's even happening and Survive
Personally, I had quite the adventure after beating the first game and am currently playing the second game in the series. For some reason i became burnt out of ds2 and i was thinking of playing ds3 then backpedaling. am i retarded? should i beat ds2 first or does it even matter?
>>282
DS3 has some tiny references to DS2 but for the most part they're completely disconnected. 3 is a direct sequel to 1 but in terms of mechanics it's more of a regression of 2.
You can play the games in whatever order you want though, it doesn't matter unless you care about following the lore
I had basically went against advice from an anon and basically grinded until i maxed out my stats for my zwihander build and I also damn near fully upgraded my elite knight set and i pretty much blazed trough the game without any problems lol. two/three hits killed every boss but i did sweat with kalameet. getting to the boss area was hard enough with him KOing me within seconds and then battling him was insane, i had to be real quick and it took 5 hits overall to kill him. manus spooked the hell out of me but was trivial. its a build to play on a second playthrough but it didn't ruin my experience overall.
>>427
My only problem with this approach is that magic one shotted me so basically i had to be on my toes. It was an interesting experience to say the least.
I liked how Oolacile was actually that wood area in dark souls. It was a neet revelation. It was sad to see that Sif recognised you as the person who saved her and slain Artotias. It was interesting to enter a world that had just became an apocalypse and was still bright and clean. Kinda like the beginning stage of a zombie apocalypse, everyone was infected but life was still there. The chimney fire was still burning in the houces you enter and the people there was freshly infected by darkness.

Here is a zip that has Scarface: The World Is Yours for PC.
The game's graphics normally break on anything beyond Windows 7, so it includes a fix to that.
The config file is set to 1080p widescreen.
The animations look sped up if you are playing with a remotely decent GPU and get too many frames (100+), and it may also cause random crashes; so it's better if you lock the framerate at 60fps or less.
The .exe has to run with Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and fullscreen optimizations disabled to prevent stuttering. I've already configured this before zipping it so the game is just ready to be extracted and played.

No one needs to feel guilty to pirate shit whatsoever. These companies do not deserve your money. You are better off buying only if you love the thing and want a physical copy. the same can be said for anything else from Mangas to comics.
